When i conect my iPAQ to my laptop via USB i get message: " one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognise it." This message is displayed since I recently opened it, but only to clean it of dust. Cradle is broken, so I can only syncrhronize via USB

No. Everithing else works just fine, and I´ve replaced conection cable

Tried tahat also, but with same result. I´m puzzled with the fact that device works normaly, I can charge it via USB port, but not synchronize it. Could I damage something while cleaning the dust and, most importantly, what can I do to fix it?

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. The error that you received from the computer was common to a usb device that is bad. The computer recognize that there is a usb device connected to it but it does not recognize it. You can try to connect the iPAQ to a different computer and if you have the same error the device is bad.
Thanks

Yes most likely you might damage it. Charging function is different from sync function. To be able to fix it you might need to bring the device to a service center so that they can replace the part that is damage. Thanks

When I connect my Canon PowerShot A3100 IS camera to either of two laptops via USB cable, I get an error message stating "USB Device Not Recognized - One of the USB devices attached to this computer...

I had this problem today and you might want to check this
from PC's menu = go to my computer right click and select properties
select device manager,
locate "canon camera" which may be under portable devices as mine was
There is either a plus or minus sign next to it. If it is negative as mine, delete this driver. Make sure your camera is off and unplugged before you delete it.
Plug camera in, turn on and the camera should download the driver again.
It worked for me - I'm not technically brilliant but basically, the driver wasn't working correctly.
If you can't find the same settings, call customer service - they were great.

Unfortunately it seems you USB drive has had a critical failure. If it is less than 1 year old, you can contact the manufacturer for a replacement. USB drives, like any other drive, should always be backed up. If you would be lost or dismayed by loosing the information, back it up somewhere and maybe even two or three somewheres.

Believe it or not, many people have resolved this issue just by unplugging (from the wall or the power supply, doesn't matter) the PC for 15-30 minutes. (This allows all the capacitors on the motherboard to fully discharge) If you have a laptop, unplug it and remove the battery.
If it only happens with the iPod and no other USB device, let the iPod drain down completely and plug it back in.

Other things to try: A new USB cable Uninstall ALL the USB ports from the PC via Device Manager and reboot.

The thumb drive might have some fault.
Plug it in other OS mainly windows XP and Linux.
If still same problem persists after tried in Linux, problem is with pen drive.
You can ask for a replacement from the dealer as it has guarantee for 5years.
