There 2 ways to connect to internet wirelessly.

1. Through cell phone
a. There are many cell phones (almost all) who acts as a modem. When you buy a cell phone you get a data cable and software cd with it. This will connect your cell phone to laptop USB port. You have to connect your phone and install the software. Then you will be able to connect to the internet wirelessly.
b. There are many cell phone company who sells USB internet dongles. Now a days 3G data cards are also available. The data cards have the software inside it and installs itself when inserted into the USB port. This will give you wireless connection to internet.

2. Wi-Fi dongle. If you buy this dongle and insert it into USB port it turns your laptop wi-fi enabled. Then you can access any hotspot and wireless modem.

Hi,

What kind of laptop do you have?
In order to get a wireless connection to the internet, you would need to have a wireless card installed in the laptop and of course and existing Wireless Network.

You can go to Device Manager to check if you do have a Wireless Card.

Right Click on "My Computer"

Click on "Properties"

Click on "Device Manager"

Now, you can check if you do have a wireless card.

If you do not see something listed, then you need to buy one and install it on the computer.

If you do have one, you can enable it right there.

Thanks,

Have a good one.

If you dont have the Wifi Card in your laptop, then you need to purchase a USB Bluetooth Wifi dongle and then install it on your laptop, it will act as a wifi card and then you can connect through the wireless connection.

Rohit

There's a lot of available wifi adapters out there that you can just plug into your laptop's usb port. You can try looking them up online or in computer shops.

Dear Sir, There is no provision of fixing my laptop to a wireless router. Can anybody advise how to convert this "laptop" to enable getting wireless connection of internet?

To connect to the Internet you need a few extra things aswell as a network or wireless card and install the LAN or wireless driver.
1. You need to sign up with an Internet service provider.
2. Connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DSL or cable modem
3. You need a DSL or cable modem and connect and configure the modem to inaccordance with your Internet service provider's instructions.
4. Install Internet Explorer if it has not been done.
5. If everything has been done correctly, when you open Internet Explorer youcan access the Internet. If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to yourwireless router, the router needs its wireless settings to be configuredwith the SSID, encryption key etc., also the wireless cards in all thelaptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

Hello there sir, FixYa pro member is on your service!

Well it looks like your wlan output has been blocked somehow, I want you to take your D-Link wireless router behind, notice little restart button on it, press it and hold it for 10 secconds in that position, after that use your router will be on factory settings, then WLAN ports should be automatically opened. If not just check wlan status enabled . Thanks for asking fixya.com sir have a nice day! :)

Please rate my solution if you have a moment or so, thanks in advance.

I have a wireless network of computers, one wired and 2 wireless. in the correct setup, my other acer laptop doesn have internet, but s connected to the router, and this laptop im using CAN connect...

All the computers should have the same NETWORK NAME or SSID.

Recheck the settings and make an adhoc connection for each of the computers to your router.

You can also get a USB wireless adapter to enable ht NO internet laptop and connect them.

Just keep playing with the NETWORK SETTINGS.

Make sure all are connected to the SAME SSID.

Hope it helped.

God Bless You!

Hi,

You may want to double-check if the wireless adapter on your laptop is enabled. If it is enabled, try to view the available wireless networks on your wireless connection and select the name of your wireless network. You may also want to check your wireless router if there is a wireless security enabled. It is important that you know the wireless settings on your wireless router to make sure that the wireless adapater settings on your laptop match the settings on the wireless router.

Internet wireless connectivity

This is a common and annoying problem. Your router is running and connected, but they are either not using the same encryption keys or else you have some other setting incorrect (encryption type is a common one).

Turn off the laptop's wireless connection and enable its cable (wired) connection. Connect the laptop to the back of the router physically with a network cable. In a browser type 192.168.1.1 (or other similar number - check your router's quick start guide). Log into the router and go to the WIRELESS SETTINGS. Write down everything you see (channel, station ID, encryption type and key, and whether MAC ADDRESS LOCKING is on (if it is turn it off for now)). Take these settings, reverse the process on your laptop and try to connect wirelessly with the new settings. They have to be exactly the same

If it all works, you need to go back into the router and enable MAC ADDRESS LOCKING after giving it your laptop's MAC ADDRESS, enable the highest standard encryption both the router and the laptop support, and turn off station ID broadcasting if possible.

If you still cannot connect wirelessly, connect again through the wire connection, and turn off encryption, turn off MAC ADDRESS LOCKING, and try again.

Good luck...
