Jornada 548 won't print to IR on hp 450 mobile printer

your router must allow this.
if no idea at all what rounter you have
the SSID is just broadcasted name, use a personal made up name like ROVER2, or your dogs name, etc.
the WEP is , no longer safe, web is very hacked.
but many old HP relic devices many only do WEP.
and most routers now deleted or is turned off by default (wise they are)
so turn on WPA
then set a passphrase, matching the router.

I may be off base but might the problem be as simple as the frequency being set for the alarm. What I mean to say is, might the default reminder time for the alarm be set to such a low setting like sec's or minutes leaving the unit to repeat the alarm rapidly prior to your being able to dismiss/snooze. The jornada 548 power adapter should not be buzzing - it should be very quiet.

When you smell burning silicon thats a sure sign you are going to need a new one. Sounds like some pretty severe damage to chips if it smelled up the whole car. But the battery charging light still working is a good sign, which means its not a total loss.

I use my 548 to keep my work and home versions of Outlook syncronised. I have about 70 contacts stored. Three suggestions.. 1) Do you have enough free memory? Emails can take up megabytes, and for that reason I choose not to sync emails. 2) Are all of your contacts in the same Contacts folder? I have two contacts folders on my home Outlook, one for me and one for my wife, I only sync my contacts to my 548. 3) In Activesync, click on Options, Sync options, contacts, settings and make sure that "Syncronize all contacts" is checked

I have another model, but maybe this will work: In the explorer under file you will likely have send and receive menu items. Similarly for pocket outlook applications.

This may be a simple case of removing all the entire active sync directory. If you used to connect via serial+com it wont be detected on usb. Remove active sync from your pc via the add remove program feture, then reboot and re install. Then run the make a connection again from active sync. Hope this helps

you need to set time zones. and if you have DST , day light savings time in your unstated locations.
finding a manual on anything that old is problematic to you and most other helpers,
