Check to see if your lens cap is on. If the cap is on, the lens cannot extend and you will get that message. If your lens cap is off, check to see if there is something impeding the lens and keeping it from extending. Your camera may "think" the lens cap needs to be removed.

SOURCE: mssg eror: PLEASE TURN CAMERA OFF AND THEN AGAIN

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Andrea

Keep getting message, "Turn off the camera and turn on again!" it only beeps and repeats same message.

No camera is designed to put up with extremes of temperature. Contact the mfrs service department, but be prepared for a disappointing response - may be cheaper to replace it rather than have it fixed.

Hello, ive just recieved my Fujifilm Finepix S2950 HD and set the time and date ect. gone to take a picture and it is repeatedly telling me to turn the camera off and on again.

Welcome to FixYa.

Getiing this error message means a camera malfunction. All you have to do is turn the camera off and then on again, but you have to make sure that not to touch the lens.

If the message persist, you should contact a FUJIFILM dealer.

Please let me know if you have any question and if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Keeps saying turn camera off and on again

Try changing the memory card and then check. You might also need to format the internal memory of the camera in case it has been encrypted by your office.

Turn the power off and on again message

Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settigs 1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Sony Cyber Shot lens extends and retracts, can't take photo

My solution for the M340

I had the same problem after a day at the beach. What I did was get a can of compressed air (from the computer section) and blow air around the lens as I repeatedly turned it on. It took about five cycles, but I eventually cleared whatever was preventing the lens from fully opening.

Good luck.

Camera opens and closes repeatedly and then says please turn camera off and then on again and then does the same thing over again.

you should have dropped your camera down to the floor causing the lens assembly to crack. try tapping the device while the message appears. if it works then you are lucky.else you might have to change your lens assembly which costed 60$ for me in my sony camera
