Question about AT&T 650530003417 Cordless Phone

1 Answer

My att cordless phone mics went dead - on all three handsets!!! People call in, I can hear them and they can hear me. I call out, I can hear them but they cannot hear me. Any fixes? Phones are barely 3 months old.

It's not that the handsets have bad mics, the problem is in the base unit. That's what's sending audio into the phone line, and something has gone wrong there. Try unplugging the power from the base and give it a minute, then reconnect the power. This will allow the computer inside to reset and may straighten out the trouble. If it doesn't, you're probably best off replacing the system.

AT&T doesn't say anything on their site about service, just to call their Customer Support and Service Center at 1-800-222-3111 for more information. If your phone is out of warranty, it's probably easier and maybe less expensive to buy new.

I had actually tried unplugging the base for 3 minutes early on, to no avail.

The customer support at ATT was superb - they told me to unplug the base AND also disconnect all the batteries in each phone. Then since I called from a cheap phone I bought at the dollar store, she called my cell phone and stayed on that line with me while I plugged the base back into the main phone outlet and tested it.

Awesome that I didn't have to spend another $80 on phones after only 3 months. Thanks to the expert here as well, but for those who may read this you sometimes obviously have to disconnect the batteries inside each phone as well to totally complete a reset.

Very interesting! Thanks for your comment, which I'll add to my notes. I've never run across a single handset causing a system-wide trouble like that. I'm glad to hear AT&T gave such good service. Thanks also for your kind rating.

Is there a battery in at&t 530 handset?

The ATT 530 is not a cordless phone, so any suggestions related to base/handset are erroneous.

Cordless Extension handset (non-color) screen remains blank and does not connect to Multi Function Printer.

Hi, the handset is not registered with base, to register please follow this process:
1. On handset press Menu/OK.
2. Press cursor up or down to choose "Register HS", then press Menu/OK.
3. Press Menu, 0, 6 on the control panel of base unit (MFP)
4. Press OK on the control panel of MFP.
You should hear one long beep when the handset is registered correctly. If not (three short beeps) repeat steps from 2 to 4.

I have the Dect 1683 with three handsets. We had a hurricane and the power went out and not all three handsets read "Searching" and I get no dial tone. When the phone rings it rings but you...

Just unplug the base unit from AC wall power socket for a while, say for about 5 minutes or so, replugh the base unit to power socket again. Place each handset on it and synchronise it with the base unit. As you put it on, you will hear a beep sound. Now the ahndset ahs been synchronised with base unit. Do this for the other two handsets. OK.

Calling party cannot here receiving party

This can be one of a couple of things. First of all, if this is a multi-handset phone, go off hook on two handsets at the same time and see if you can hear yourself in both phones (Speak into one while listening to the other) If it is only a single handset phone, do the same thing only with another phone. If you cannot hear anything coming from the uniden phone, it may have a bad mic in the handset and would need to be replaced. (the handset not the mic) If you bought it less then a year ago and still have the receipt, call uniden at 18002971023 and they will help you get it replaced.

Microphone does not work

I had a similar problem. I noticed that if I put the call on hold when I took them off hold, the mic would work for approximately 5 seconds, so I figured it must be a "software" problem.
On the base unit, I used Setup Base > Deregister All and then re-registered by handset. The mic is working again (for now).

Mic not working.

It worked well for me too! Thanks!! I was told I had to buy a new phone because the microphone went back. Took the receiver apart (4 screws in back of handset and 2 that held the board in place), cleaned mic with alcohol and a q-tip, and removed the rubber piece that kept the mic clean (inside of the housing), and presto, it worked just fine. The ribbon cable came loose upon opening up inside of phone, but I stuck it back inside the top of base and I was ready to go.
