I think your device is trying to perform the hard reset procedure. Try to soft reset it, instead, by briefly inserting the stylus pen in the reset pin (on the back of the device). If the hard reset procedure keeps coming in, I'm afraid you'll have no other option than accepting it, by pressing the left key.

A problem I have seen countless times on the DELL pocket PCs. Check the corners of where the touchscreen go UNDERNEATH the plastic housing. Sometimes when dust or debris collect here, your touchscreen has a difficult time calibrating.
your hardware slide sensor is probably broken. go to start>settings, tap the screen tap at the bottom, tap the screen applicaton, change orientation to "landscape". your phone will be permanently in landscape mode, which is better anyway, since the screen rotation is annoying as hell.
