MCS 160 Boston Subwoofer ZD3 Zener Diode Value

ZD3 is a 18v zener. Also check the surface mount resistor on the back of the board that is attached to ZD3, I think it is R9. Should be 10 ohms. This resistor sometimes opens when the diode goes short.

My hitachi 29in ctv power supply 110vac had a problem on zener diode will blown if we switch on the tv. what spare parts to change so that the power supply zener diode will not blown again and the supply...

The secondary output voltage comes out from is more than it should be there. That is why, the protection zener diode blows off, as soon as you switch ON the set. First find and repair the power supply regulator, for correct output voltage. Refer its repair book for details. After repair include the zener diode in place. OK.

Emerson mod. ewc 1301 keep blowing fuse

Hello
There must be a direct short in its power regulator section. Normally a shorted switching output transistor at power regulator section will cause this fault. You have to check all the components in the power supply switching retulator section, including rectifier diodes, zener diodes, electrolytic capacitors, small signal switching transistors etc. In fact, you have to check the components in the entire power regulator system. Never put any more fuse into it as an experiment; this will make more components to get damaged. Check the sets' circuit well. OK.

My 50 lg plasma doesn't power on right I need to give it a shake before it will work right

Hello,

Check the power supply; look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops, check to see if you have standby +5vdc at the power supply connector, the front red indicator will not be on if you do not have this +5vdc standby voltage due to shorted out power transistor or zener diode...but if otherwise, Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hoping this will helpout in solving the problem.....

Tv working fine, then suddenly, pop and black screen, sound is ok

The issue here is that the zeners in question are merely like a safety fuse and replacing them before identifying and fixing the cause of the problem will only cause your replacement zeners to blow aswell.... personally if it is a true plasma it likely chews through alot of power anyway so I would take the opertunity to replace the TV with a newer much less power hungry led TV and in doing so save the hip pocket and the environment.
