I have a Maytag washer which is about 10 years old and I'm not sure about the model type. This is what it is doing: The washer is filling up and then when it should start to agitate it doesn't. It is clicking though and the dial is moving like it would normally and then it drains. And now it has stopped doing the spin cycle so the clothes are still very wet.
I hope you can help me

For being 10 years old...I'd say R.I.P Neptune. A 10-year-old dryer is going to cost you more in repairs than the cost of a new machine! And even if it is cheap enough to fix, the parts may be no longer available. I used to work at the Harrisburg PA Sears Parts/Service Center...trust me...I know.
Fee advice???are youlookingperhaps for possible recalls on the maytage front loader?? a call to the manufacture with the model and seriasl number will enable you to acess all the current recalls
most maytag toploader mav did have that sound if it drain & spin your ok i have the same washer and it has the same sound & work fine that washer will only last about 10 years (i work for maytag )
Follow the two inlet hoses from the back of your machine. They should each end at a valve (one for hot and one for cold). Make sure that these valves are all the way counter-clockwise and that the hoses are not kinked or pinched.
Since you know about the lid and check switches, they are located under the splash (control)panel. unplug the machine and remove the screws holding the panel on. Using a meter check the switches for continuity and replace if they've gone bad.
