SOURCE: Camera says brand new batteries are dead, then shuts down
It is possible that the batteries are dead (they might be faulty or too old) even when they are out of the package, though unlikely. Try another set of batteries, and if these don't work, you'll probably have to send it for a checkup.

you must be using battery available at the store having the handling capacity of 250 to 300 ma what you need to use is a rechargeble battery with a capacity of 2100 and above this should definately solve your problem
SOURCE: won't turn on
Plug your camera into the USB port and conenct it to the computer. If your camera turns on, the problem is the Power On switch. The Power On button is very finicky (poor design). I found it best to use your thumbnail and fully depress the tiny black button and turn to to the left or right and hold for 1 second. Best if you do this with your hand over (above) the camera.
SOURCE: Red flashing light
Find a new supply of "Duracell Ultra with M3 Technology" batteries and give them a try. The flashing red light is usually an indication that the batteries you have in the unit are not producing sufficient power to run the camera. Rechargable batteries are should have a rating of 2500mAh or above in order to provide enough power to maintain the draw from the camera.
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: put brand new batteries in camera took three pic then they die
Hi, you will only solve this by buying the official KODAK battery (KLIC-8000) - NZD52.00 retail here in New Zealand. Even the generic CR3V rechargeable batteries dont work, so dont waste your $$ on them.
Even now, with the 'official' battery, when taking flash photos or zooming a lot, I find that it is only taking around 150 - 200 shots, when Kodak boast over 400.
But I must say the capabilities of the camera (esp the quality video) outstrip any annoyance battery wise.
Hope this helps, regards Wayne
