All what you can do is to use a USB pendrive to be connected and all image files required be copied to the USB. ( select the images, copy and paste to the USB)
If not use the CD writer to copy the images or a SD card.
If you do not have a pendrive you can also use your ipod.

Most picture formats, the part of the file after the dot, are the same for both types of computers, ie jpg, gif, tif, etc. So if you have the computers networked it's just a matter of copying them over the net from one machine to the other.

If you don't have them networked you can use a 'jump drive', which is a storeage device that plugs into a USB port and copy them to the drive and then stick the drive in the other machine and copy them off. Jump drives, sometimes called Thumb Drives or USB "sticks" have really come down in price these days.

Otherwise your third choice is to burn them to a dvd and then copy them to the other machine via the dvd you made. Or if you really want to do it the long way you could email it from one machine to the other :)

-If they are simple .jpg files then I would suggest you just e-mail them to yourself, or have her e-mail them, from the Mac. -If the e-mail does not accept the file format, then you could always use a usb flash drive.
-Finally, if you don't have a flash drive, you could use an online storage cloud such as the Skydrive from Hotmail. These usually offer at least 1gb of free space to use and you could upload it from the Mac and download it again from your PC.
Hope one of these options help you!

We are converting from a PC to an iMac. We backed up all files to the flash drive which is a NTFS format. I soon discovered the MAC is not compatible with it and I cannot transfer my files. It seems...

The MAC can read PC formatted USB flash drives BUT the USB flash drive MUST be formatted in FAT32 not NTFS.
I have a MAC and I also transfer photos from my PC to my daughter's MAC notebook.
You can also transfer files from the MAC to the PC using these FAT32 formatted USB flash drives.

Hi, I am having problems transferring files from my macbook pro(never had this problem its like its locked out my laptop) to the hard drive it keeps telling me "The item cannot be moved because LaCie...

Yup because you formatted in NTFS yesterday on your friend's windows. only window pc's can write to the hard drive.
so you will need to reformat it under mac to mac extended.
or if you want to FAT if you want to write from both platforms.
please note that FAT file size is limited to 4GB's..
you could download NTFS write drivers for mac but it is unsafe and data can be corrupted.

Virtual PC 7

What type of Mac is it? PowerPC G4, Laptop, etc? You can copy the files from the Mac partition to the mounted Virtual PC volume and have the XP side find the new files. It is duplication but it is the only way I have found to work without causing other problems.

Can't download large movie files to iphoto : (

i found the answer to my own question above and thought i'd share.

rather than iphoto, you can use "image capture," which is software that comes standard with the mac.

-Turn on your camera, and connect it to your computer with the cable that came with it.
-Close iPhoto if it opens automatically. Open Image Capture (Applications folder).
-Click Download Some to choose specific items to transfer, or click Download All to transfer all items.
If you click Download Some, choose the items to transfer, and click Download.

By default, Image Capture transfers still images to your Pictures folder, video files to your Movies folder, and music files to your Music folder. To choose another folder, choose Other from the Download To pop-up menu, then click Download Some or Download All.
