Mavica CD400 Not enough disc space error

When I turn the camera on I can view all the pictures on whatever disc I put in the camera. If I try to take more pictures or delete anything off of the disc I get an error message that states, "NOT ENOUGH DISC SPACE". I have gotten many more pictures on a disc that 253 and there is nothing special on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am currently working on a job in Japan so I had to buy another camera for now but would still like to get this one fixed.

This happens no matter what disc I put in the camera. So are you saying this is the message of death?

A few times over the last several years, having shot thousands of images with my CD-400, I discovered that VERY rarely a bump/jar, etc. can cause a bad write, or the same thing when finalizing. In the car with a friend one day, I was needing to finalize for him and got the message of death. That's the only thing I can offer; mine has worked like Sony intended.

Sony CD Mavica MVC-CD400

I think you have to Finalize the disc before you put it into your computer. After you save all the pictures to your computer, if it's a CD-RW, you can format it -which will erase all pictures on the disc. Then you can use it over and over again. If you haven't already bought a bunch of cheep CD-R discs, I recommend getting a package of 3 or 4 CD-RW discs instead. They are more expensive but they last longer and you can be way more organized with them. I hope this helps.

Here is a link that really helped me out with my Mavica,

Disk error c:13:00

A substantial percentage of my Memorex 3.5" CDs won't finalize, and when I susbsequently try to review the photos on the camera, it tells me there are no files on it. Nothing will download to the computer via the USB either. There is a software program that always saves me when I get careless and fill the disk to full. It''s called CD Roller. It''s called CD Roller.

CD400 Disc Problem

I doubt it altho I really don't know. I've put over 6000 shots through my 300 and finalized in all kinds of conditions - including bumpy roads, trams, and airplanes. I've never experienced what you described, although twice in severely bumpy conditions I had one pic on each disk with half its pixels corrupted. Sounds like there is something severely wrong. To test it you can try not finalizing and look at the pics through your USB connection.

Mavica cd400

To review the picture just taken - seconds; to retrieve from the disk you have to finalize the disk which takes about a minute for a full disk, seconds for a partially filled disk. Then you just put it in your CD-drive and you can view them immediately. If you have Roxio with a CD-RW you may not have to finalize the disk first, and you always have the option to transfer pictures via the USB cable (same as with other digicams).

Help!!!!!!CD400 disc error message

Will the CD read in your computer? If so, try this freeware utility that has been recommended here in the forum. I downloaded it and actually had to use it last week on my memory stick. It WORKS! http://www.webattack.com/get/pcinspector.shtml
