Problem accessing removable disk

I own a Samsung Digimax V4 with a 512 Secure Digital Card and I am quite pleased with it. But just a few days ago, coming back from weekend trip I tried to download to my computer the pictures I had taken (my computer has the XP windows operating system). I was not able to access the files containing the pictures, the following window appeared: ?Removable Disk E. DCIM is not accessible. The Parameter is Incorrect.? I am pretty sure this is a software problem and not the camera?s but this is the first time it ever happened and honestly I do not know what is causing this problem or how to remedy it.

I suspect that the XP Wizard that automatically detects the removeable drive and pictures when you connect to the computer and the Samsung viewer software are conflicting with each other to do the same task. I removed the Samsung viewer software and the XP wizard now works fine.

I had exactly the same problem with windows giving me the same error message: "DCIM not accessilbe. The parameter is incorrect". I gave up trying to make it work then the next day I unplugged the usb cable on my device and replugged, started the computer, then restored the "Alexa related files" that Spy Bot Search and Destroy removed on a scan the day before. After that, it worked and I could retrieve my photos.

On my Samsung Digimax S800, when I put the memory card in, it says to check sd card. What do I do about it?

When the card worked before, check if you did not switch the lock switch down. And check all contacts on the card and in the camera. They should be clean and shiny.
When you recently bought a new card you could have bough a SDHC card and these won't work in your S800.
The S800 only accepts MMC and SD cards, The SDHC and SDXC cards won't work.
A few years ago you still could buy 4 Gbyte SD cards. Now even most 1 Gbyte and 2 Gbyte cards are already SDHC. SDHC was introduced at least 7 or 8 years ago, so all new devices accept SDHC. The SDXC was introduced at least 4 years ago, so in a couple of years, you perhaps only can buy these cards?

Free software installation disk for samsung digimax A7

Do you really need the Samsung software?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Samsung Digimax D53 camera driver

THis model isnt compatible with Win 7, then I suggest removing this card and using it directly into a card reader in your computer to have access at pictures. If you have the correct reader installed in your computer already then just insert the card into the reader and then if the card does not show up, just look for it in your start menu under "computer". It will be visible under the "removable storage" devices in the menu.

If you do not have a card reader installed in your computer, you can purchase a card reader for your specific card, they are readily available and do not cost very much.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day

Memory card after formatting, say check card (samsung camera)

Probably, especially if your card is a 4GB or larger SDHC card, then it's definitely the wrong card. The older Digimax S800 camera can only use standard SD cards (2GB or less). Fortunately, these are very inexpensive these days, and may be found on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them. For others reading this experiencing similar problems, please see this article.

Hi how do i formatt my camera card

From page 63 in the manual.

Format

Internal memory format : Remove the SD memory card to format the internal memory.

SD memory card format : Insert the SD memory card to format the SD memory card.

All the files in the memory are deleted by the [FORMAT] function.

Before formatting the memory, it is advisable to copy important data onto other media as back-up

e.g. floppy disks, hard disks, CD etc.

1. Turn the camera power on.

2. Select the PLAY mode by rotating the mode dial.

3. Do not turn the LCD monitor off.

4. Press the MENU button to display the menu on the LCD

monitor.

5. Press the UP( )/ DOWN( ) button and select [DELETE].

6. Press the SET( ) button and the sub menu will display.

7. Select [FORMAT] by pressing the UP( )/DOWN( ) button

and press the SET( ) button

8. Select [NO] or [YES] and press the SET( ) button.

[Selecting NO] : The image will be displayed on the

LCD monitor.

[Selecting YES] : A [PLEASE WAIT!] message is

displayed and all of images are
deleted.

Ive got a Samsung Digimax L70 and I have been trying to clear the actual camera's memory. I have uploaded photo's from the SD card but 400 or more photos remain on the camera and I just can't access them...

Wow! You have 400 pics on the internal memory. That must be some huge internal memory. Anyway, to delete them, remove the card from the camera...go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.

Digimax Software?

If it isn't too far out of your means, I don't use the software for my camera. I use a card reader. You can find a card reader for about $10 - $15 in most stores that will read 7 or more types of cards. I use my own photo software. Only accessed the disk for the pdf manual. My laptop has a built in card reader. You may be able to find a solution by letting your computer search for a driver on Microsofts site. Mine was automatically recognized on win xp. Hope this helps.
