Your balance 247MB files must be write protected. You will have to untick the protect tab and then delete. Or else you can connect the device to your computer and right click on the AV220 icon and click on the format command. It will warn you that you will loose all data -- just ignore it and click yes.

Hi Brad. The memory card is a Apacer SD 256 mb

I suggest to use the card into another computer and make sure it is read ..If this is the case..it means the issue is with the card reader of the computer ..and probably the lack of the reader's driver is to blame ..
anyway ..I will try to link the driver here ...all you have to do is select the operation system you use...download the driver and run into computer ..restart and try to see if this fixes the issue ..If several trying will not fix it ..it may consider the possibility your card reader to be faulty .

Like I said ....select the operation system ..than download the storage driver ...(6in one card reader )
have a nice day ! and do not forget to rate the answer...

Hi, I have an old Apacer Audio Steno AV220 mp3-player. After deleting all visible files and folders, there are still only 11MB avaiable (out of 247MB). I guess I need to formate it(?) but how do I do that?...

The lcd display has gradually got feinter over the last few years. It is now practically unusable. I have not tried to fix it.

Have you been using it by sunlight?
This happens to all LCD displays if they are by sunlight.
You may have to get the unit replaced.

To unprotect

It would depend on your Operating System. If you are using Windows 98 you'll need the drivers from your CD or from Apacer's website. The CD also has tools to perform various functions which might include protecting and unprotecting your flash disk.

SD is slower

SD is approximately 1/2 the speed of CF, but the benefit is that SD uses almost 1/2 the power consumption of a CF card. Additionally, it leaves the CF slot available for different I/O cards.
