I found Sylvania video drivers at this link: http://www.xpdrivers.com/monitor-display/sylvania/_3_3785.cfm That may help, since you mention it is only a problem when you are "online", what is the Screen Resolution set at? The native resolution for this panel is 1024 x 768, this should be your starting point. If that is correct then the problem is in the browser, press and the "minus" (-) key to shrink the view of the browser window, the "plus" (+) key will enlarge it as well.
Wont your Windows disk install a generic driver on Plug and Play ? Usually should find a monitor at start up and install a driver automatically

She should not have a prioblem. The PC should recognize new devise and look for the driver. If it says that driver not found, Go to DriverGuide, this is a great website and you can download any driver for FREE. Install it then she should have noprobs.
