Question about Rowenta Vacuums

1 Answer

Hello, our Rowenta DE87 sometimes heats and will shut down during use and other times it will not heat from the start. I have the unit disassembled and was told the likely problem is the pc board which is no longer available. Any chance the problem could be the thermo fuse which is available? Thanks.

Easy steam express ll not steaming

The problem with the DD steam mop is not getting steam out but trying to get it to keep coming out. If U disassemble the plastic housing around the handle U will see a small part connected to 2 hoses, one going to the water reservoir the other going to the heating unit. This is the pump which provides water to the heating unit, and if this fails U won't get steam. U can try disassembling this and try to get the piston to move more freely. A loud clicking sound coming from this should indicate good movement and a feeble click click click may indicate restricted movement.
Hope this helps

Iron shuts off intermittently during use, therefore it won't steam. Before we go any further does this site charge for this service?

No charge for my answer, but you can contact an Expert on this type of appliances and discuss it further.

The motor is not working all the time. Sometimes takes an hour or so before it kicks in. I unplug the unit and plug back in along with re-set button but does not seem to matter

that is an older unit I am guessing and I would suspect that it is the heat sensor that is shutting it off as it is probably shot. Can you tell me the model and approx. year it was made/purchased. thanks

The water heats slighty but no steam comes out

Hello,

Your heating element is damaged, or more likely has scale (lime, calcium, etc) built up on it. See your user manual for instructions on how to clean. If cleaning doesn't help, then it may be time for element replacement, or unit replacement.

I couldn't find any warranty information on this iron, but I suspect that the heating element either has a faulty connection or part of it has cracked, making contact at time, but poor contact at other times. The unit will have to be taken apart and inspected and troubleshot, and that's why I was inquiring about the warranty. Someone in a review of them said that their website and 800 number weren't working, so you might try to refer to your manual that came with it for support. Another person who uses them regularly said they just last for about 3 years before needing to be replaced. If the warranty isn't valid for you, I would disassemble it and try to see if an electrical connection to the element is cracked, perhaps, or has heat damage, then try to secure it. If the element's cracked or damaged by heat, it will need to be replaced. There's a chance the control unit's faulty, and any fix could run into some money. If you do have it serviced, get an estimate first. Sometimes it's just better to bite the bullet and get a new one. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Over heats and shuts off, wont start again untill it cools off. can maybe vacuum one room before overheating. cyclone tubes are all clean, all hoses & lines are clear. this vacuum is fairly new, not...

The electric motor has a thermal switch and is self-resetting so there is no re-set switch. Make sure the air filter for the exhaust is clean. Also make sure that the height adjustment is not too low causing strain on the motor. Always bring the height down to where the brushes just make contact with the carpet. It is possible that the thermal safety switch is tripping due to a bad switch. In that case I would contact Drit Devil if it is still under warranty.

The region of the motor gets very hot during use. What can I do?

The Hoover is likely built with a temperature overload protector, to shut down the unit if it gets excessively hot. All the units will get heat build-up from the suction motor during use.

Shuts down after 10 min use

I would clean or replace filters on it check the hose to make sure it is not blocked . It sound like it is over heating and making the breaker kick off and after it cools down it resets this is caused by dirty filters or blocked hoses.
