Hi.Sounds like your batteries have sulphated plates, this happens when they sit for too long without being used. Your machine is a 24 volt system, so it needs both batteries to be working. You might be able to get a bit more life out of the batteries.
Try removing both batteries from the machine and connecting a light bulb across each battery and discharging them until they are flat.
Then using a 12 volt charger, ( not the charger for the machine, which is a 24 volt charger ), charge the 2 batteries in parallel. Sometimes it helps to charge them up the wrong way for a few hours, then discharge them again with the light bulbs. After this charge them again in parallel with the 12 volt charger, this time the correct polarity, a leave on charge for 12 hours.
You might have to repeat the charge, discharge cycle a few times.
The batteries will accept a charge after a bit of this, but they might not be as good as new batteries.
If you are unsure how to do this, get some help from someone who can do the work safely.
Good luck. Neil.
I would attach the charger then using a voltmeter read each battery,. If one battery is higher voltage it is the defective one, and needs replacing the most. There are several way to recondition your batteries. Results may vary and ALWAYS exercise caution as your dealing with deadly poisonous chemicals.
