scroll to lower toolbar (bottom of screen) right click select task manager select applications also under processes if you see something running that you dont need runing select end now
you might have a virus slowing your computer
you might uninstall some unnecessary programs
and add more ram

How to Play MKV Files?

A lot of media players can play MKV files on your computer. If you're looking for a free program, just give Leawo Media Player a try. Besides playing MKV and other media file formats, the tool is also a good Blu-ray/DVD player for your computer.

I am unabLE to play mkv filEs

You can install Leawo Free MP4 Converter, when you install it, it will ask you to install a codec package, after you finish it. you can convert your video to MP4 format easily, or just watch your MKV video with Windows Media Player.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

Here's a link for CCCP, it's a codec pack which should take care of all your needs, I did a quick search to make sure it's still clean of viruses/spyware and it seems it is

CCCP

you may still need haali media splitter to play .mkv files in media player so here's a link and the link to the .mkv site:

Haali - direct download
.mkv site - main site for the matroska format (.mkv)

if all else fails use vlc, it plays anything, if it doesn't play in that then it won't play in anything

I used to use all of these when I used windows and still use vlc now.
