PC-CAM 880 - remember Webcam mode

I own for more than a year a Creative PC-CAM 880 camera installed in a Windows XP SP2 system. When the camera is attached to my computer through the USB interface, is always recognized under "My Computer" as a removable disk (red light on) and when I press the Mode button, disappears as removable disk and reappears as 2 separate devices - "Creative PC-CAM 880 (Camera)" and "Creative PC-CAM 880 (Video)" (green light on). The thing is that even if I don't remove the camera from the USB port, every time that my computer restarts, the camera is always recognized as a removable disk. I would like to know if there is a way to make Windows XP remember my camera's mode used for last when the system starts again. I was wondering also if the same thing happens with other users of the same camera.

Uninstall all reference drivers to camera, reboot then install drivers again AFTER you hook the camera up to your computer.

Camera doesnt work

Sorry talhahs, creative has not written Vista compatible driver software for you're PC-Cam 350 camera. Hence you're camera will not function with any version of Vista.
There are few SD readers currently that are compatible with Vista. Click on this link to see one type.
http://www.vavolo.com/productdetails.asp,mode,1,ProductID,3908,gclid,CPqsn6iJ-JMCFQEnGgod1UrbWg
A card reader that will help you in transferring pictures from you’re camera to you’re PC while using Vista.
Win XP, unlike Vista will still run program software even if it has not passed MS's compatability.

Good Luck!

Creative Webcam Instant drivers for Vista

My wife has a new computer with Vista on it.  I tried to plug in my Creative Webcam Instant into it, thinking there would be no problems.  Turns out that Creative doesn't support Vista for a couple of its webcams.  I fixed it, though, and now there's no problems.  What you have to do is take advantage of a couple of Vista's less-obvious features.  Put the Creative CD in.  On the CD (not in a folder on the CD), there's a setup.exe.  Right-click it and select "Properties".  On the "Compatibility" tab, enable the option to run it in compatibility mode for XP SP2.  Then also check the "run as administrator" option, just for good measure.  After that, it will install just fine (otherwise, the Creative installer tells you that it doesn't support your version of Windows).  Then, after it installs, find the program's executable.  It should be in the relevant program files folder (if you're not sure, hover over the webcam center shortcut in the start menu, and see where the program is actually located).  Do the same thing for the program executable (right-click, compatibility tab, enable compatibility mode for XP SP2, enable running as admin for good measure).  If it doesn't work for you after all that, I don't know what to tell you.  It works just fine for me now (it didn't want to otherwise).

Creative Software

Well, the questionmarks often suggests that the language pack is not installed. Try downloading the English software from their website. It is possible that this is another language. http://www.creative.com/
