Device keeps saying format error, cannot play music

Format error means the file type is incorrect. you may have downloaded MP4 or WAV files. They need to be MP3 I imagine and be in te same bitrate as the player. The player probably came with software for converting files to the proper format.

When trying to play music the display shows "Unknown Format"

Only MP3 and unprotected WMA files re supported. If you upload copy protected WMA files or any of the iTunes AAC formated songs, they will not play. All purchases from the iTunes store have to be converted to MP3 before they can be played on this player.

Also, some older MP3 players will not be able to play MP3 audio encoded at high bitrates.

I am using Nokia 2690. I copied songs from my computer to my memory card. When I trie to play them a pop-up message reading "file format not supported" appears. What could be the problem...

I had the same problem with my phone. Your phone probably doesn't support mp3 files with a higher bitrate than 192 kbps. You should convert your non-supported mp3s to a lower bitrate. To identify which bitrate is supported right click to a music file wich is playeable select properties and then details, there you should find: bitrate: x kbps. Try looking at more file's bitrate to find which one is the highest. For converting the non-supported files to lower bitrates please follow: http://www.mgtek.com/dopisp/manual/html/dptskConvertMP3sToALowerBitrate.html

I hope it helps.

Bad container message appears on screen and files are not played

The video bitrate (file compression) is to high and needs to be re encoded at lower bitrate(kbps).
Try these settings for 1080p: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/1866/codecit.jpg

Bad container error

"can't play media (bad container)" for MKV format :
The video bitrate (file compression) is to high and needs to be re encoded at lower bitrate (kbps).
Try these settings below for 1080p with the ScreenPlay Director HD. If you are using a different ScreenPlay, check your user's manual to make sure you are using the correct output container because not all ScreenPlay units play MKVs.

Output Container - MKV
Output Video Codec - H.264/AVC Width:Height - 1920:1080 Frame/Sec - 23.976(24) Bitrate kbps - 1248 Hi Quality
Output Audio Codec - AAC LC Freq 44100 2 Channels 128kbps Audio

Music does not play in vodafone 803t using beat engine, the message appear "This file cannot be played."

It means the file is not compatible. Could bw the format of the file, mp3 or whatever, or it could be the bitrate of the recording. If the bitrate is too high then also it can not be played. Or if the player is corrupted. Check all these and take corrective measures as under: Load a compatible file in case of first. Load files that have lower bitrate. And last, reinstall the firmware if the player is corrupted.

nwe003f is not a standard mp3 player. It plays mp3 files, but firstly they must be converted to another format (omg). I think that this is not typical conversion- some tags are added and that's why player plays mp3 files and shows the bitrate on screen but those mp3s are not mp3s :)
Download sonic stage and the problem will b solved. Best wishes in 2k8 year :)

Req Help - - Olympus WS 320 M - Won't play some MP3 files

I found the problem, I believe. Check out page 80 of the user manual. I formatted the unit and ever after it would not play mp3s, even those I had previously used successfully. It no longer plays mp3s after formatting. I have heard that the limitation is on mp3’s at lower bitrates than 128k. Mine are all lectures at 56kbps. My solution is to recode my lectures from 56k mp3 to 64k WMA and it works. I understand that you can also recode to 128k mp3 but in my case this would make the files much larger.
I hope this helps.
