Hotsynch manager does not list mail as a synch task

Under the "custom" button of my hotsynch manager all the usual things are listed, calendar, contacts etc. But mail is not listed as ne of the options to synchronise. So My mail doesn't synchronise, it never has done since I have owned this Zire 71, I recently upgraded to outlook XP from Oulook 200o but didn't make any difference. I tried to redirect mail synchronisation to outlook, by first directing it to outlook express, and then direct it back to outlook again, but it made no difference. Anybody has any good ideas? thanks

When you first install Palm Desktop, you have a choice of synchronizing with Palm Desktop or with Outlook.

It sounds like you chose Palm Desktop.

You have to uninstall Palm Desktop and Reinstall it.

There will be an option to synchronize with Outlook/Versamail so make sure to choose that.

Setup Versamail with Outlook 2000

I use Versamail with my web-based, non-work email account (which is what it sounds like you have - web-based at least). I don't sync Versamail, I just use it to dial in to my account and download/send emails.

Lost files - due to soft reset?

just check your PalmOne folder, see if anything there, i.e., : C:\Program Files\palmOne\\Internal Drive Backup *********************** well, a hard reset should be able to restore to LD new-out-of-the-box state, if you don't need to save any corrupted files in LD drive... But if they are something really important, what you can do is to copy whatever files out to a PC (i.e., via drive mode on a PC), and see if you can recover it with data recovery apps, or better yet, do it straight on the LD drive - although the chance of success is slim. What you described on previous post, sounds like the FAT table has messed up, and seems very similar to a PC HDD failure.

Can't synch my contacts, calendar, tasks or notes to my Palm m505

In order to remove the username from your Palm m505 you need to go into memo pad, create a new document, now the ticky part, you need to right in grafitti a cursive L (hand written low case l) followed by tapping on the screen twice (will produce one period), then the number 5. To test this you can follow the same procedure but change the number 5 to number 4. You should end up with Handheld does not have a usernameand all of your data will still be retained in your Palm. Now when you go to synhronize on your computer select the new user on your computer.
