Sony Handycam DCR-HC36 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Logo

I can't get the Mini DV door to close. I have tried everything. Usually, the moment after you put in your mini dv tape and push/tap the outside, the cassette door will close automatically. I think it's jammed. Not sure what's wrong. Any ideas/recommendation?

This is usually caused by a defective component in the tape detection circuitry and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

How do you close the door when there is no tape in the recorder

If it is like my Samsung Mini-DV, it will go in by itself if you close the top part as if you had just put a tape in. There is an outer door, then a kind of drawer that slides out on its own power, then the tape compartment pops up. If you are putting a tape in, you then push that pop-up part down into the powered drawer. It's like pinching the two halves together. You can do the same thing without the tape. There will be a pause, then the powered drawer will go back into the camera and you close the outer door by hand.

Possibly your model is different.

DVD to mini DV tranfer

Only way is Play burned DVD in dvd player and provide Audio- Video out (yellow-red-white) to mini DV camera that has AV Line Input recording facility. Or find any Mini DV recorder and record tape.
In that way you can record video again on Mini DV tape.

Rca CC9360 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Usually this occurs when the door latch release mechanism is broken. This mechanism is located on the basket where you push the tape in and it's job is to open the tape "door" on the cassette that you insert. Unfortunately, the only fix for this is to replace the cassette basket. I know your camcorder is actually made by JVC, but I don't have access to a manual so I can't supply a part number for you.

Door Jam

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

Panasonic AG-DV2000 Mini DV loading problem

the "dv sensor"is actually a mechanical lever built into the cassette housing that moves the reel tables to match the reel spacing on mini or full-size DV tapes. check to see if this assembly is free to move. if it binds up, the reel tables may not move as far as they need to, and can cause problems similar to the one you're seeing. to inspect the mechanism, you need to remove the cassette housing. if you don't have a service manual, get a tech to help -- it's a delicate procedure for the inexperienced.

Canon xl1

I had the exact same problem; my tape icon was flashing red with a line through it and the recorder would not record, no matter how hard I begged it to. After a full day of frustration, I called the videographer who had used it previously. There is a little trick.

1. Open the exterior tape door with the "Eject" button.
2. Wait, dont touch the tape. The little metal encasement will pop over and open within a few seconds.
3. To properly put the tape in, insert tape, push the little metal door that sais "Push this first".
4. Then push the exterior door closed.

Voila! Thats all there is to it!

Can not load mini DV in my camcorder

Did you clean your heads? Could be a faulty tape transport mechanism tape path is not getting aligned. Regular maintenance & adjustment is critical. Pay attention to the degradation of the rubber on the pinch roller, which grips and pulls the tape during transport. This rubber should be replaced at regular intervals. If it's old enough to be out of warranty, there may be a part failure, like a spring or clutch in the camcorder itself. Unless you can see something obvious (like a foreign object - kids you know) there's not much you can do on your own. I would send it for repair. Good luck
