I'm trying to get my 6 yr old Visor Deluxe to now work on a new PC but after I've downloaded the new PALM Desktop V401 using WinDesktop_401_ENG_V.exe, I find that when I click on the button on the cradle to start the sync, I only hear something like a beep-beep sound on the PC. From reading some of the Q&A to solve the problem, one thing is I on the Drivers directory of the Handspring directory, the drivers listed are PalmUSBD.sys and PalmUSBD.inf. The Q&A says this the the WRONG driver and it should be PalmUSB.sys. Where do I get the correct Drivers. On the Q&A, it says the Drivers are bundled with the PALM Desktop software but when I load the software I get the (above) wrong drivers. Any ideas how to resolve drivers needed? I also find when I loaded the Palm Desktop, I got an error msg during the installation, something about a Macro in Word or Excel but when the installation completed, yet I seem to find the program has been installed (correctly?). I've also tried to use the program in the Handspring directory, "USB Utility" which I think cleans out the register, so you can then reinstall PALM Desktop with the correct drivers. I've done that and still same problem.
Problem is fixed: Not sure how I fixed but I think it was when I shutdown PC and restarted. Then I tried to SYNC again AND then I found WINDOWS saying it found new hardware (the cradle). This time I knew to say I'd tell where the drivers were and I chose the Drivers directory of Handspring directory and the installation proceeded OK this time. (drivers are PALMUSBD.inf and PALMUSBD.sys) I can then SYNC with Outlook 2003
