Yes their is a defrost water pan (in a normal working ref. the water will evaperate)it can be accessed by pulling the ref. out and removing the lower back panel, in a few cases in my 30years of repairing appliances i have seen sometimes where mold grows in that pan

Water collecting in the pan underneath the fridge.

it should do this but the water should evaporate from the heat from the condenser and compressor, when the machine goes into defrost a heater comes on and melts all the frost off of the coil, the water drains down into the pan where the water will evaporate, when was the last time you cleaned out the condenser coil?remove the front bottom kick panel and check the coil,if it's filled with dust it has to be cleaned out at least once a year especially if you have a cat or dog, then pull out the machine unplug it or shut off the control and remove the bottom back panel, the easiest way to do this is to vac up as much dust as you can with a shop vac, then set it for blow by putting the hose on the other end of the shop vac and blow the dust out of the coil, you can buy a condenser brush that will remove dust thats stuck inside the coil but the shop vac works great, through the condenser this is how the heat escapes out of the machine, also clean off the fan motor in the rear, also there are plastic water lines that come out of the water valve that could be cracked going to the ice maker and water dispenser or the valve itself could be cracked causing this problem or the pan could have a crack in it,very unusual for the pan to overflow, when you're done cleaning it plug it back in,make sure the fan is running fine and have someone fill a cup of water and check the plastic lines coming from the valve to see if it leaks, pull out the pan and check it for cracks, fill it up at the sink and check it,if everything looks good you can shut off the water valve that goes to the fridge for a few days and keep an eye on the pan, like i say it's unusual for the pan to overflow just from the defrost water,if the water is evaporating with the water shut off then you have a crack in one of the water lines going to the ice maker or dispenser

Odor

Could you possibly have a dead rat under there? I know this sounds gross, but they love to hide in the electronics. (Sorry). Anyway, your drip pan may sit on a small bracket type piece that isn't heavy at all. It can sometimes get misplaced, causing the fridge to leak because it's out of place. If you can get a flash light, you should be able to see where it's placed and you should be able to remove and clean it out. I put Mr. Clean in mine when it gets an odor and when water hits it, the solution cleans the odor, but you can clean it and replace it. I hope this helps!

Water pooling underneath bottom drawers

Find the drain line from the freezer to the evaporation pan near the motor. Often the line is visible on the back of the fridge. That line is plugged either with food residue or the collection point in the freezer is solid ice. The self defrost feature melts the frost and drains it to the evap pan. If you remove the floor from the freezer area, you will see the collection point. When the line gets plugged with food, no water drains and then freezes to block the line even worse. So, if there is ice at the collection point, remove it somehow, maybe a hair dryer, and then clear the line by blowing compressed air from the bottom of the drain hose through to the collection point.

There is a bad odor blowing out from under my Whirlpool side-by-side refigerator. How do I fix it?

Hi

Odors in the refrigerator can come from many different sources. Spoiling food, spilled milk, open food. Often a really good cleaning out with an ammonia cleaner can help or with a baking soda water mixture.
But, sometimes an odor can "permeate" into one of the plastic parts found inside the fridge, crisper pans, door liners, shelf supports. Even after you have found the spoiling food, removed it, cleaned the fridge up.....sometimes another plastic part will pick up this odor and continue to give the odor back off. A few things that can help with this type of an odor, place one these inside the fridge section:
- box of baking soda
- dish of coffee grounds
- open slices of bread
The bread trick can be used to effectively to remove odors. Just throw a slice or two onto one of the shelves in the fresh food compartment, leave the bread slice(s) in there for 12-24 hours -no longer- and then throw the bread out or I throw the bread outside for the birds to eat. When bread goes stall, it will **** in odors very well. Because the air inside the refrigerator is blown between both sections, this will help the fridge and freezer sections. Do this for about a week and you should notice a big change in the odor problem :-)
A really bad odor problem. Sometimes something like milk or juice is spilled inside the fridge. The liquid can run under the plastic edge breakers and get into the insulation. This can be very difficult to clean and may require a service call to have the old insulation removed and replaced with new insulation in that section.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Spilled milk inside the fridge ends in the catch tray

The pan is for holding the defrost water for it to evaporate. If the milk creates an odor, you can acces the pan by removing the front panel under the door (usually). The pan will probably come out so you can clean it.

Water under crispers in my fridge

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me

Water leaking from bottom of refriderator

dear ricurtsmith..
your fridge has a water trap pan underneath it to catch the water from the drain line when your fridge automatic defrost.
either the pan is not in place proper or the pan may not be underneath, period. or pan could be stopped up/need cleaning. or if pan is made of plastic, it could be cracked.
it is located at the bottom of fridge where you see something loos like a grilled vent. remove that bottom piece to get to the drain pan.(it just slides out!!) good luck & hope i was helpful.
