The M55 series does not output to external VGA automatically. You can either go into Setup (press F2 when computer is starting) or use FN F5 in Windows to toggle between LCD, monitor, or simultaneous output.

The monitor port should be standard, so as long as the plug on your monitor doesn't have any bent pins, it should work.

HOW TO USE AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

Hello,

Your note book has a serial port at either of the sides or at the back just below the screen. It is rectangular in shape.

The cable from your external monitor will fit in to this port perfectly. connect it and power your monitor and Notebook. You should get a display on your external monitor.

Cheers!

I need to install external monitor on my toshiba. help

You can switch to anexternal monitor by two methods. 1. Connect the externalmonitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and thelaptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up thelaptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor bypressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make andmodel laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCDscreen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fnkey plus one of the function key.

Which memory cards fit Toshiba satellite M55-S331? I want to add 1G, and I understood it might not work with some of them.

Hi,
Here is the RAM specs for your notebook:
Installed size: 512Mb / 2Gb max Technology: DDR SDRAM 333MHz, PC2700
According to this specs you can reach 2Gb max so you won't have problems with 1Gb... just be sure you use the same technology
cheers

Toshiba M55-S331 will play DVD's but not CD's..

Sounds like a codec problem, or settings.

visit the above link for the latest codec packs.
Or try opening my computer, right clicking on the drive and setting autoplay options.

VGA connection from PC to TV --TV says "no signal"

On the remote control for your television, there should be a source or input button. Pressing the key repeatedly will switch from cable input to standard tv input, to s-video, or ypbr, or game, or various others. Try doing this and see if the image appears, this awlays works for me. If I am telling you something you have already tried, i am sorry!

I have a dell monitor wich I want to connect to my laptop ,,

You may have to enable the external display via the display properties advanced options.

Right click the desktop and click properties from the drop down menu. Then go to display properties and click the advanced button. There should be an option in the tabs up on the top to switch to an external monitor if the laptop supports it.
