One of two error messages comes on: (1) 5C10 or (2) 6A00, as well as the yellow alarm button and it won't print. I couldn't find anything in the path of the print head holder. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

I have an Error message showing as, 6A00 also. I cannot find anything in my manual telling me what the error code involves. I cannot troubleshoot the error if it does not indicate where the problem is. Currently, the inUse/Memory light is on, along with the yellow Alarm light The copy light is flashing, along with that yellow Alarm light. I was receiving a multi page fax from my tax consultant, when a paperjam occured. I quickly assumed that the fax info that I was seeking would go into memory, and I pressed the Stop/Reset button. I immediately opened the compartment to release the paperjam and cleared up the problem and resumed the ongoing fax info. Another paperjam occured and I did a repeat of the above solution., only this time I noticed a felt insulator that is directly under the feeder roller where the fax sheet information is released was exposed. I again pressed the Stop/Reset. When I opened the machine again, I noticed that the printhead did not return to the center, as usual. I also noticed that the "copy" button was the button flashing and not the "fax" button, so I turned off the machine again. Turned on the machine (by the way, I had also turned off the machine each time, after I had pressed the stop/reset) tried to press the "Fax" button to resume receiving the fax info., but the button would not switch from "copy" to "fax". The error notice shwoed up as "6A00". I cannot get the machine to do anything now except flash the yellow alarm, flash the green "copy". I am not sure of my warranty status at this particular time. I have had the product probable a year...maybe a little bit longer. I cannot get help at the place where I purchased the machine. They just tell me to come back in a few days because the are very busy with a lot of other customers trying to purchase products???? WHAT TO DO?

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Printer not turn off

It sounds like a driver problem. Unplug the printer from the power and computer. Uninstall the drivers completely and then use the original disc that came with the printer to reinstall everything. Leave on automatic updating.

Orange error flash, then number two and also alarm is flashing in yellow

Error message 2 usally means a problem with loading paper. Remove and reload the paper; then press the [Black] or [Colour] button to start printing.

If this does not reslove the problem try completely powering down your printer to allow it to reset. Turn it off and unplug both the power supply and USB connection. Reconnect the power cord then the USB cable; try printing.

My mfc240c says to replace the yellow ink cartridge but I don't want to spend money on that if the 'light bulb' is ruined. When I turn on the machine, I don't see any light for scanning or copying. ...

By the "light bulb," do you mean the scanner lamp? That lamp should only turn on when you are actually scanning, faxing, or copying a document. You should be able to still use the machine to scan and fax, even with the yellow ink empty. Try scanning a document to see if the scanner lamp comes on.

As far as printing or copying goes, you won't be able to print or copy anything until you replace the yellow ink, even if you try printing in black and white only.

You could try resetting the printer:

1) On the panel, press and hold the <On/Off> button until the display goes blank (approx. 1 second). If the display does not go blank, unplug the power cord.

2) Wait approx. 10 seconds, plug in the power cord (if removed in previous step), press the <On/Off> button to power on the unit.

3) Wait for the printer to cycle through its startup routine before trying another print job.
