Your machine's old. Too old to run antivirus software unobtrusively. You can boot LiveCD (or
LiveDVD (torrent)) or use an awesome firewall, but browsing the web safely by itself is generally beyond it.
Moreover you could plug up to 3 1080i displays into a cellphone (if you want 3 displays, a particular cellphone,) and get a bluetooth keyboard, and save the cost of the displays and keyboard in the first year. If you spring for $100 HDMI cables and nice PiP TVs instead of $4 cables and 18" monitors, it'll take 2-6 years. Get the picture?
(Yes, I know; where would you plug in your USB Nerf missile launcher? Deal with it.)
If you want to just run the utility Malwarebytes made to get rid of the worm (which
Symantec and all the other companies licensed to make their brand,) just boot
this once you dd or 'burn' it to a bootable USB key. There are other ways via booting to safe mode with networking, taking in a registry hive (doubleclicking it and waiting a bit,) and then running a utility renamed to IExplorer.exe...but you probably ought to back up your important data to flash, grab a free antivirus scanner to run on-call or every fifth day for now, and upgrade one way or another.
