Cannot establish connection with desktop.

Literally, overnight I became unable to hotsync. Bought new cable, still nothing. When I finally cancel the hotsync, it says "a connection between handheld and desktop could not be established". Am connected to a hub where all else connected is fine and all lights are green. Why all of a sudden? My whole life is on this Tungsten E. HELLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!! Not using Outlook, using Palm Software. Not sure what version. It is about 1 year old. Thanks

My problem was resolved by uninstalling Palm Desktop, then then reinstalling it. First, I had to make a copy of my Palm folder to make sure nothing was lost. Then uninstall Palm Desktop, reinstall it off the CD, and synch. And because I use Chapura Pocket Mirror XT as the interface, I had to reinstall that as well and then resynch. While talking with the Palm representative cost money and was time consuming, it was ultimately the best option. It also left me with duplicate entries which I had to clean up, but at least I'm back to synching again.

Can't get device to hotsync

First thought is that the cable has become defective - they do go wrong.

Assuming the visor is fine other than when hotsyncing, I suggest you reinstall the Desktop manager and hotsync manager on your PC or Mac, HAVING BACKED UP ALL FILES of course.

Sometimes the managers get corrupted and cause problems. Try that first, then check cable and finally a hard reset, assuming you have hotsynced recently and so won't lose loads of information.

Hotsync (on its own) Problem

i have fixed this issue.

you must open up the phone a little ... with a soft tooth brush and clean around the connectors ... you probably spilled something and some rust has made a connection across some of the bus lines near the bottom of the device.

also clean near the bottom on the circuit board almost immediately right next to where the battery is.

Ibm workpad sync & port issues help!

You have your Hotsync software set to use a com port instead of USB. Right Click on the Hotsync icon on the lower right part of your PC desktop and change it to USB and you should be good to go. The IBM Workpad is just like a Palm. I have the Workpad C500 which is actually a Palm M500. If you have a Workpad C505 it is a Palm M505. Anything you can buy for a Palm M500 will work with a C500 and anything you get for a M505 will work with a C505. If you do NOT have a USB Sync cable for your Workpad I suggest you do what I did... Just get a combination Sync and charge USB cable at Staples or Best Buy for your M500 or M505 and use it. It was about 20 but you can get them cheaper on the Net. I hope this helps you!

Vx to Outlook 2002 failed - no connection Established

hi, on ur palm tap on home , u would see hotsync icon tap on that , on the hotsync page , u would see ur name on top or just welcome , make sure u see direct serial on the same page , tap on the top left corner where it says hotsync in words , in the drop down , tap on lan sync prefs , make sure local hotsync is darker in shade. on the pc make sure u see the hotsync manager at the bottom right corner , if not , click on start , click on all programs , choose palm desktop , inside that u would see hotsync manager , left double click on that , if it doesnt appear at the bottom right corner , try 4times , then if it still persists , restart the pc and try again. Once u see the hotsync manager at the bottom right corner , right click on that , left click on setup , left click on local , choose a different com port , reduce the speed to 9600 , click on ok restart ur pc and try hotsyncin , if it doesnt work try the previous step again and do not forget to restart ur pc , and then perform a hs , it will work .... Regards
