Synchronisation with Outlook 2003

I have trying to sychronise my Tungsten T5 with Outlook 2003 and I am getting duplication contacts. I think the problem is arising because Outlook uses colours in its calendar to categorise events and I do make full use of those functions, but then if I add appointments whilse out and about and then re synchronise with my outlook again, I get a message to say that the sync is complete, but when I check my OUtlook, the new appointments have been added, but the previous or old appointments have duplication. And because Outlook uses colours, I can clearly see the event that was in Outlook before is coloured and the new event which came from the T5 is not coloured. This is most frustrating because I have to keep deleting events from Outlook, and now I'm not event bothering to synchronise, I've reverted back to a paper diary until I resolve the problem. I wonder if there is something which I haven't set up right or something which I should have done which I haven't as I am new to this. any help would be appreciated.

My T5 will not synch my calendar in Outlook

Welcome to Fixya

Double check the Palm or palmOne program in Windows. Click Start then All Programs then Palm or palmOne. You should see an icon in there called Sync with Outlook or something similar. Click that icon and the Outlook conduits will replace those for Palm Desktop. Some conduits, like Media/Photos will continue to sync with Palm Desktop, but Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Memos will sync to Outlook.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Tx will no longer sync with outlook 2003 or outlook 2007 calendars. Software reinstalled, tx reset, latest updates for syncing with outlook 03 and outlook 07 loaded, still won't sync to outlook calendar...

I would recommend contact the palm free chat. Here is a link for that. I have a TX and have used the chat feature myself and always with good results. Scroll to the bottom of the page and then you will see Palm chat. From there click on chat now and follow the directions. Best wishes.

Sync

Unfortunately, it's doing what it's supposed to do. When you change the contact in your T5, it still has the old one on your PC. When it goes to sync, it thinks they are two different contacts (because they are different), so it adds the updated one to your PC, and the old one to your T5 resulting in both the old and new being in the T5 and your PC. It is easy to fix, although aggravating. Try right clicking the HotSync Manager icon in your toolbar and for the Contacts section make the handheld overwrite the desktop. I think it goes back to "sync" after you perform the sync, but you better double check my advice :)

How do I fix double entries after Hotsync

Manual unduplication in Outlook. Everyone who synchronizes databases has to deal with dupes once in a while. Here is a really excellent method for manually removing the duplicates within Outlook. It looks complicated but it is really easy to do. The principle is this - every record created in Outlook has a creation date/time stamp. When your data got duplicated during a HotSync operation, all of the duplicate records bear a date/time stamp of that synchronization - usually all the duplicates were created within about one minute of one-another.

Want Microsoft Outlook to dominate - two computers

Update dominance in Palm Desktop app. Figured it out! Go to the Palm Desktop application. Click on HotSynch, and then Custom. On each of the four Outlook conduits, click "Change", and specify that desktop dominates, if desired.

Switch from outlook to palm desktop

Remember to change (HotSync, Custom) settings before you perform your sync or else you will get duplicate records as I did. Good luck. Support Knowledge Library Click here to go back Click here to print Solution ID: 25263 Switching between Outlook and Palm Desktop synchronization Depending on your device, you might be synchronizing with Outlook using the Palmā„¢ Outlook Conduits, or PocketMirror conduits from Chapura (find out which). Both of these types of conduits are installed and activated when you run the CD-ROM that came with your device. What do you want to learn about? * Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits * Switching synchronization: PocketMirror Conduits * Synchronizing partially with Palm Desktop, partially with Outlook * Note about data transfer * Macintosh information * Multiple users on the same desktop computer Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits These instructions apply to the Palm Outlook Conduits that are included with handhelds released after late 2003. The Palm Desktop installer determines which conduits are activated during the installation process. If you want to switch synchronization from Palm Desktop to Outlook, or vice versa, you'll need the original CD-ROM that came with your handheld. 1. Insert the CD-ROM into your computer. A window should open, containing the contents of the CD-ROM. 2. From the Discover Your Handheld screen, select "Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits" or "Change synchronization method" (depending on which device you have) 3. Follow the instructions for switching synchroniztion from or to Palm Desktop or Outlook. 4. See our note about data transfer Remember: Some applications will continue to synchronize with Palm Desktop. Use Palm Desktop to manage applications such as Photos and VoiceMemo

How do I coordinate different user profiles on 2 pcs?

You will have to keep the profiles the same. In Palm Desktop, under Tools/Users, you will need to reset the name on both of the computers to match the name used on the PDA.

When you start syncing to two computers, the Windows conduit will start to complain. Just tell it that you know, and clean up the mess by yourself.

Which is only one of the reasons I don't use Outlook at home. Palm Desktop can remove the errors created by Outlook, but Outlook can't.
