Step 1
Install
the Palm Tungsten software. This software is required in order to sync
Palm Tungsten with Outlook Express. To install the software, place the
CD-ROM in your PC and follow the on screen instructions.
Step 2
Use
the HotSync cable included with your Palm to plug into the USB port of
your PC. You will then plug the other end of the cable into your Palm
Tungsten.
Step 3
Open
the HotSync Manager program on your PC through the "Start" menu or
clicking on the icon. You can manage the different programs available
for synchronization through this program. Select Microsoft Outlook as
one of the applications that you want synched onto your Palm Tungsten.
Step 4
Turn
on the Palm Tungsten. You will see a star icon on the menu of your PDA.
Tap this star with your stylus to start syncing Microsoft Outlook
Express. A dialog box will appear on your PC during the process to know
the progress of the synchronization.
Step 5
Unplug
the cable from your PC and Palm Tungsten once the sync is completed. As
the Palm resets, you will now notice that Microsoft Outlook Express is
available on the PDA.
It sounds like the computer is noticing the USB activity (from when you hit the HotSync button) but for some reason it can't find the correct information/driver.
I'd first try a soft reset (stick a paper clip or the end of your stylus may screw off to reveal a pin, in the hole at the back of your palm) Don't worry, it won't delete your info UNLESS YOU HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON (SO DON'T). Once it's booted back up, try the hotsync again.
If that doesn't work, you may need to find the usb driver for your palm and reinstall it. This could just be copying a file from disc, or reloading your Palm Software.
Good luck
Note- this software is works only with windows operating system so, connect your Memory Card, Phone, HDD or any other Storage Device to computer to recover data.
Probably one of these issues - your data is there but you are looking in the wrong place.
I am trying to sync my outlook calendar and contacts via Hotsync on a Palm IIIc. It gives me the status of OK, but nothing shows up on the Palm. I have set the custom on Hotsync to desktop overwrites handheld, but still will not work. Thanks.
Click on the hotsync icon in your system tray and then click "custom". That will bring up the list of things you are configured to sync with (conduits). For each of the ones you have problems with, click that conduit and then make sure it's set to sync the way you want...desktop overrides, handheld overrides, syncronize, etc. Potentially you have some of them selected as "do nothing". What shows up when I click custom from hotsync are the following Outlook Conduits: Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Memos. If you don't have those showing up, you need to update your Outlook conduits on your PC. If you have them, click to select the problem conduit, then click "change" and select what you want to have happen.
what software did you download for your outlook conduits? the installation cd already has the outlook conduits you need.. you just have to install palm desktop first then you'll be given options whether to sync your handheld with palm desktop or with outlook. choose sync with outlook
Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)
After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
