Intel DH55TC Motherboard Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 25, 2011

CPU: intel core i3 550, MB: Inel DH55TC, Ram: Transcend: 2GB 1333Mhz, SMPS: 550 Watt. After first installation, this system ran for 3 months without any problems, suddenly, it became dead and assuming it to be a motherboard fault, mb was sent for intel service. But they returned the MB testing "no problem". Reassembling system, it ran fine, but again after a few days, it became unable to boot. Each components (except MB) was tested separately to be OK. Jumper restore technique was also done. Now, what to do?

How many years do you own that desktop computer? You have a problem with your Ram: Transcend: 2GB 1333 Mhz

Ram is always responsible to boot and run all system required by your computer
A defect ram cannot boot or not properly run application e.g.
Power-On-Self-Test (start up of your computer)
Booting your Operating System
Running your Application like Microsoft office , Photoshop and so on

Replace your Ram

Dear jrmenor2011, this system described here is about 8 months old. Of course, I'm arranging for a brand new ZION DDR-3 (Hynix Chip) RAM to replace that said one as you prescribed. Now, please tell me while older CPUs like dual core with system boards even start without a RAM and beeps "RAM error", isn't DH55TC's characteristics same? Does Core i3 starts without a RAM?

    To roy,

You need a RAM in order to start up all things when you push the power button of your computer. As I prescribed, RAM is "always" responsible to boot up the system

I'll give you a tip, before you buy a hardware for your computer, always check your desktop motherboard's manual for hardware compatibility (e.g. RAM)

I have installed a brand new ZION DDR-3 (Hynix Chip) RAM, but the problem persists. When i switch the system on, no response from the system. SMPS, CPU Fan doesn't start, no power on light, no beep sound, only tiny LED on M/B shows there is power on M/B.

  • Anonymous Jul 29, 2011

do you try to manually configure your jumper settings on your motherboard? You said that the LED shows that there's a power on it but doesn't start. Try to put a jumper on the power on connector on your motherboard. If it works, you have a problem on your desktop housing's power button. Then check again your motherboard manual for jumper configuration settings

Hi,

There are two harware you should check,

First the memory, it might be malfunctioning, if you have an extra memry card, try to swap it just to test the syatem.

Second will be the power supply unit or PSU, that is already overheating and shutting itself down, thus its not powering the your hard disk. try to replace it if you have an extra PSU.

Those are the most probable problem you have, PSU is the main problem in any desktop that was always been overlooked!

Hope that helps you out!

3 beeps means that it's a RAM fault. If your memory worked just fine in another pc then it's the fault of the memory controller of the chipset on the motherboard - either the memory slot is loose (move the stick in the slot and try again) or the chipset itself is failing. That can't be fixed, the mobo is dead, replace it.

The processor is too weak - get at least an i5, best would be a quad core i7; the hard drive will be filled faster than you thing - bigger is always better; get some faster memories - at least 1666 MHz, 4 GB is bare minimum, get a 64bit OS and 8 GB for real performance; the power source is at the limit - for best result get one of 600W; as for the video card the best for photoshop is Nvidia Quadro CX, even ATI Fire will be better than any gaming card.

try running a memmory test on your memmory. I use "Hiren's Boot Disk" to run these kinds of checks. If your RAM has any problems, it will show it.

Also, does the game crash and return you to your desktop? Or does the PC reboot? Or does it Blue Screen?

It also "might" be incompatability?

1333 FSB processor ( E6850 ) on a 1066 FSB motherboard, DDR2 667 memory

Hi proenza. you're making good sence! You're D945GCL MB should be able to run 1066 FSB. Not 100% sure you're memory will keep FSB up to 1066.
Here's the trouble though. The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 will not run on the Intel D945GCL motherboard because it is not supported. Look here at Intel's web site. Supported CPU's.

Intel E6850 specs sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6850-Processor-3-0GHz-4MB-Cache-1333MHz-FSB-Conroe-Dual-Core-OEM-Socket-77

Intel E6700 spec sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6700-2-67Ghz

This CPU is supported by the D945GCL MB.

In order to get 1066MHz (CPU can run at), you'll also need the memory support at 800MHz. The D945GCL MB can only run DDR2-667MHz.
Many people buy a CPU to run MB's specs (1333MHz) just to find the same MB does not support DDR2-1066MHz or DDR2-800MHz. Motherboard Mfg's are lagging. DDR3-1333MHz is out there now to support the 1333 MHz CPU FSB.

I hope this has helped you make a decision proenza.

Good Luck!

Mike
