Question about Cameras
The camera uses most power when you take a picture.
If there's not enough then the camera will shut down, or not operate.
Your manual says charge the battery before first use or when the low battery indicator shows.
You can't start fretting over the camera misbehaving if you don't follow the manual.
Don't forget to format the card. It will work for a while without but then you'll find you have problems viewing and downloading your images. You can even lose them all.
Don't worry about draining the battery before re-charging it...that only applies to Nicad batteries and something called "the memory effect". You have a Lithium battery that can be charged at any state with no problem.
