I think the machine is telling you to look inside for a foreign object or scrap of paper:

1) Turn the machine OFF
2) Open the cover
3) Carefully inspect inside for a bit of torn paper, staple, paperclip or other such foreign object - gently clear any problem materials. Do not touch internal parts if possible. Use tweezers for small hard-to-grasp objects.
4) Close the cover, and power ON
5) If the MFC cannot reset itself, or if no foreign material is found, the machine should report an error code, for example "Machine Error XX"
6) From this code, brother support should be able to diagnose and help with your problem

by the way, are you able to browse any other sites in the internet? I ask because the error message that you reported is simply saying that you don't a an active internet connection or maybe you are working offline.

To work online, Open your browser, click the FILE menu and click the command at the bottom (if it has a check mark in it) WORK OFFLINE

The printer status showing offline is more then likely a computer issue then the printer. On the printer, use the menu to select "reports" and then select the printer settings report.
