How do I coordinate different user profiles on 2 pcs?
I want to sync my new Tungsten E2 wtih my home and office pcs, both using Outlook 2003. The problem is that the profile on the home pc is called "Outlook" and the profile on the office pc is called "JAC". Consequently I'm getting a lot of duplications and some omissions in calendar and contacts. How do I resolve this?
i have been charging my palm E2 when connected to my lap top. i have recently lost my charger. need to know how and where i can get one from, and fast.
when i try and charge my P.D.A. up from my lap top, this will not work anymore. my battery did completly die on me is this why i cant charge without a proper charger? i have been charging my palm E2 when connected to my lap top. i have recently lost my charger. need to know how and where i can get one from, and fast.

You can't post conmments that contain an email address.
You will have to keep the profiles the same. In Palm Desktop, under Tools/Users, you will need to reset the name on both of the computers to match the name used on the PDA.
When you start syncing to two computers, the Windows conduit will start to complain. Just tell it that you know, and clean up the mess by yourself.
Which is only one of the reasons I don't use Outlook at home. Palm Desktop can remove the errors created by Outlook, but Outlook can't.

there is no patch or update for this. You will have to get Microsoft Outlook 2002 because Microsoft Outlook 2007 cannot work with your Tungsten E2
The Tungsten E2 has been programmed by the manufacturer. It is only when you go for a higher Tungsten Hand-held, that you will be able to use Microsoft Outlook 2007.
Plug your E2 into your pc and when it says new hardware found, install the cd. Do not continue till you have verified sync connection between pc and pda
Here are two resource pages which hopefully will help. The first is Palm support page with an update to download for users of Outlook 2003. The second is a discussion thread of Treo users troubleshooting the same problem. Even if the PDA is different, the issue (and error code) is practically the same, Rather than cut and paste what I think is relevant, read the thread and see if one of the solutions listed helps you.
Also, if you have a new Tungsten E2 and there is no important data, I would hard reset it and then when you sync it, select the old profile of the previous Palm to see if that works.
The new Palm you have, is it a Tungsten E2 as well?
The profiles don't always carry over between different models.
Don't skip the initial HotSync for secondary computer!
Alright, I figured this one out on my own and figured I'd post what I'd learned so that others don't have to endure the teeth mashing, hair pulling, snarling frustration. (self induced as it may be)
My experiences have taught me to not always trust a cookie cutter installation wizard...especially for custom app installations (ie: primary = home, secondary=work, total sync, no priority). So, I did not perform the initial sync during installation of the palm software fearing that the new installation would NOT recognize that the work computer was a secondary machine and resultantly wipe out the old palm data from the primary machine. Turns out, as I saw in many other unrelated posts, that it's difficult (if not impossible) to specify conduit direction to outlook 2003 outside of the initial sync (this prompted me to specifically look for conduit direction during install). So, this wizard is one I should have trusted...by mistake...because of weak program design.
By the way...once I specified sync with outlook during the initial sync, EVERYTHING works fine despite not having installed the two "imperative" conduit updates (they were uninstalled after several previous failed attempts at this).
Hope this helps
yes I moved my files to a new machine and reinstalled palm
(which of course also created the dreaded multiple copies of many palm contacts, when palm discovered older archives, but that is another story!) I wouldn't mind that if the palm pilot would just sync with outlook 2003. It synched with Outlook 2000 on my old machine.
Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)
After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
