I have a Sony DSLR A-300 and the lcd screen on the back of the camera goes white when I take pictures. How to fix this?

Your camera is working exactly as SLRs have worked for the first half-century since their invention. You frame the picture through the viewfinder then take the shot. The display is for menu settings and reviewing pictures after they've been taken. Newer DSLRs will let you use the display for picture-taking (and take videos) but the A200 belongs to the previous generation.

I can't help you, but perhaps ifixit dot com com. There you find manuals and videos about how to repair lots of electronics. They even can deliver special tools and spare parts. The manuals and videos are free. Descriptions from too many cameras to be sure yours is there too. The dot com, I use to avoid filling in these nasty puzzles. you know replace the dot with a .

If you have a camera error, or a system error, you should switch of the camera, remove the battery and reinsert the battery, before switching it on again. If this happens frequently you should contact a authorised Sony service centre. While you have the battery out, you could check if the contacts are clean, free and shiny. (on battery and in the camera)

You may try this steps to turn off the sound on the DSLR-A300...
1. Press the Menu button, it is the top button on the left of your LCD screen. then go to SETUP 2 (hint: SETUP 2 is symbpolized by a wrench with the numeral number 2) then select Audio Signals then from the options select the desired sound settings.

It is for sure that the LCD display is not working. Hence you need to probe into the camera to confirm but attempt only if equipped with the right tools and some experience , becasue as of now your camera can shoot good pictures and you must not end up tampering to damage the camera.
If not get help from a friend or the nearest sony service centre, get estimate and replace accordinly. You will be lucky if the fault is a power link failure, if the display needs replacement then the cost is the issue, try if you can get a salvaged display unit.

I am sorry to hear regarding this Problem. If you are good at Repairing electronics, you could Fix that. But, the Main Problem is LCD Screen. Sony Does not allow the Screen to be Sold Separately and they would charge around $125 - $150 to get the Screen Fixed.

That's not too bad of a problem to live with if you don't end up fixing it. You probably know this already but what you see through the viewfinder is exactly what shows up on the lcd screen after you take a picture.
Have you:

*Tested the camera to see if any of the options and/or buttons work?
*Taken any pictures with it and uploaded them to your computer?

Push the evf/lcd button and it should work.

DSLR camera was not made to be used as a point and shoot camera and you cant preview the shot before taking a picture. You are to use the eye piece to focus right. Also before taking a picture, push the exposure button just a little to let the camera focus right.
