My rca 52 inch hdtv turns itself off after a few minutes

We turn the tv on and then within a few minutes, it is back off, we have had 2 services guys come out and try to fix it, and this has cost us 300.00 so far, the tv is just over 1 year old, I bought Rca because of the name, now I am extremely dissatisfied, I expected it to last a little bit longer for the price I paid, Now the image goes to a green and then off, sometimes we just get sound for a few minutes. Can anyone help me.
thanks
Jeannie

My problem is that when you turn the TV on there is a loud humming noise. I have had the cable company come out and there is nothing wrong with the line. the sound is coming from the TV.I have had the tv serviced and they ar indicating that its some type of sound board that can only be purchased overseas and that is going to take about 8-12 weeks maybe longer because this part is only made once a year...... Please assist

I will have the repair man out one last time to try this solution thank you for some direction. Do you know if RCA will do anything about this problem being the TV is so new? Please respond to me at [email protected]

We are in need of it fixed as my husband is going thru chemo and really needs to have something to keep his mind busy.
    Thanks again

I have the same problem. My tv was in storage for 3 months. It worked fine before it went to storage. We got everything unpacked and when we turned on the tv it turned itself off after about 5-6 seconds. I eventually got it to work that night after turning it off and on multiple times. The next day it would just turn itself off after 5-6 seconds. It has not worked again. What is wrong with it?

Sounds like the green tube shorting intermittantly. Have a qualified tech use a tube restorer to check for shorts, or the loss of the 300v line to the green tube.

Make sure ahead of time that they have a picture tube analyser/restorer. Thats really key here.

52 INCH RCA REAR PROJECTION SHUTS OFF

Your TV is overheating.. easiest remedy is to point a fan at the back of the TV or... clean the inside of the TV, Im sure its full of dust and stuff... this prevents air circulation inside the TV thus creating more heat...

Tv will not stay on

Check your power outlet for problems with hot/neutral/ground. If the outlet is good your TV is telling you it needs to be looked at by a service tech.

My RCA 52 inch was doing the same thing.  TV guy had me use a regular hair blower blowing very hot on the power supply board ( bottom left in back). After a few minutes the tv would come on.  He replaced 2 capacitors, charged me $100.00, plus the $95.00 service call, and is working fine now.  This was a month ago.  So far so good.  He only took the board to the shop, not the entire tv.  Hope this helps.

Picture

yes it could ba the cable itself even, but i suspect more the tuner circuit or tuner itself may have bad solder connections. Here is another test for you to try, plug another dvd or vcr, or xbox etc. into the back, using one odf the inputs. See if this works like the built in dvd. if so it will be more likely bad connections in the tuner or surrounding circuit. good luck.
