Question about Palm Treo 650 Handheld

"No Time" calendar events stop synchronizing with Outlook

When I enter a calendar event on my Treo 650 as "no time" it syncs with the Outlook 2003 calendar folder the first time (using VersaMail.) But future syncs cause some of the "no time" entries to either disappear from the handheld, or to change dates. If I look at the Outlook Calendar folder and view the Recurrence Pattern column, the entries that get corrupted or lost on the handheld always show that field as blank. I found a workaround: I open the event in Outlook and click on Recurrence, then OK, then close the event. That populates the Recurrence Pattern field, which causes the missing or changed events to show up correctly again on the handheld after the next sync. I never get any errors during my HotSyncs, and my "no time" events aren't showing up with an end time that's earlier than the start time (I've seen that in a few posts in the forum.) Not all of the events with the blank Recurrence Pattern field disappear every time, but the ones with that field filled in never disappear. And if I change anything on a "no time" event on the handheld like the spelling or alarm fields, it blanks out the Recurrence Pattern again in the Outlook Calendar folder and I have to fix it manually again. I've tried hard resets, deleting and recreating user accounts and VersaMail accounts and renaming/deleting the Backup folders.

When I sync the outlook calendar to my iphone, one of two things happens. 1. If I put an all day event in outlook, it syncs to the iphone a day earlier (both otlook & iphone are on same date &...

Make sure time-zone is the same for both iPhone and the computer.

On iPhone setting > Mail,Contacts,Calendars setting > Time Zone Support, make sure you are choosing the city where you are in.

Otherwise, make sure you have updated the iTunes to 7.5 or later.

Update to iTunes 7.5 or later to resolve this issue. If you're not able to update, continue reading for other options to resolve the issue.
Each Outlook calendar event has an internal property known as "Message Class." When some Outlook plug-ins are installed (such as Live Search Maps), the setting for the Message Class property can change from its default of "IPM.Appointment" to something else. iPhone and iPod touch are only able sync calendar events with the Message Class set to "IPM.Appointment," therefore any calendar events created after installing certain Outlook plugins may no longer sync.
To verify this, examine the property of the Calendar event items for MS Outlook and see if the Message Class shows something other than "IPM.Appointment" in any of the calendar events. To view the Message Class property for your Outlook Calendar events, add the Message Class field as one of the columns in the Current View using these steps:
  1. Open Outlook Calendar on the computer.
  2. Choose View > Current View > Events.
  3. For Windows Vista, choose View > Current View > Customize Current View.
For Windows XP, choose View > Arrange By > Current View > Customize Current View.
  4. Click the Fields button and choose All Appointment fields from the pop-up menu in the "Select available fields from" section.
  5. In the "Available Fields" column, select "Message Class" and click the Add button.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK.
Now verify that all your calendar events are showing "IPM.Appointment" for the Message Class column. If you have calendar events showing a different value other than "IPM.Appointment" you will need to perform the following steps to fix the issue.
  1. Uninstall any Outlook plugins such as Live Search Maps or other plugins which change the default Message Class "IPM.Appointment" to some other value. Once the plugins have been removed, verify if those calendar events revert back to the Message Class of "IPM.Appointment" so that you can sync the calendar data to iPhone/iPod touch. If you are able to sync, try adding the plugins back one at a time and verify that you are still able to sync.
  2. If removing the Outlook plugins does not change the Message Class value for the calendar events, manually change the Message Class value of those calendar events to "IPM.Appointment." For more information on Message Class and how to change the Message Class fields/value, refer to Microsoft's KB article 201087 How to update existing items in an Outlook folder to use a new custom form
Good luck!

Treo 650 is not syncing with outlook calendar, but syncing with everything else.

You may have tried Exchange ActiveSync in VersaMail When you setup an Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail, you are asking your Treo to synchronize email and your calendar with an Exchance 2003 server. In order to prevent duplicates, VersaMail disables Calendar synchronization via HotSync while the account exists on your Treo. So if you are an Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) user, you have a choice; you either sync wirelessly or you can delete the EAS account in VersaMail and can then sync your Calendar via HotSync. You cannot do both unfortunately.

Original sync worked all others failed with 650 and Outlook 2003

I was ready to give up completely. Uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing worked. Here is what I did to resolve sync errors: 1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm 2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old. 3. Connect the Treo to your computer. 4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom. Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld. 5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now. This worked for me. I hope it helps with your errors.

Treo 650 calendar not syncing back to Exchange

I am experiencing the exact same issue. Are you saying that this only occurs with one of your 650s? If so then maybe it is a hardware issue.

Treo 650 (cingular) and Outlook calendar

Its the substandard conduits that come with the 650. Hi - my issues were different than yours, but similar in that bottom line, my calendar data wasn't syncing correctly with Outlook. I've been dealing with this problem for the past 4 weeks. Sprint's technical support was useless, as was palmone. For 5 years, I have successfully synced my Palm Smart phone to palm desktop at home, and outlook at work - (4 different phones, 4 different companies). It dawned on me - for the past 4 palm devices, I was provided Chapura conduits... The 650 didn't come with them... GUESS WHAT. I bought Chapura Professional XT and all the issues I was having (they were too copious and too weird to go into here) were solved, in one measly synchronization. ALL of them. Don't wast ANY more of your time... Navigate over to Chapura's website and get one of the conduit programs -= trust me... You'll be glad you did.

Corrupt Date Book Fixed

Updated Instructions Simple fix for a corrupted Date Book sync error (at least it worked for me on my Treo 650). 1). Turn off 'Show Calendar Event' in the Phones 'Options - General Preferences' menu. 2). Turn off phone. 3). Set the Date/Time to the maximum limits (12/31/31) in Preferences. 4). Open the Calendar and view the maximum day 12/31/31. 5). Select 'Purge - (Delete events older then 1 week)' in the Calendars Options menu. 6). Reset the Date/Time to the current day in Preferences. 7). Hotsync (Desktop Calendar overwrites handheld). 8). Hotsync again to make sure you don’t get the error (Synchronize the files). That’s it. =============================== Outlook Calendar The attempt to open the database failed. Date Book application database is not found.
