Question about HP iPAQ HX4705 Pocket PC

WIFI w/WEP I have my office wifi using WEP and can not get my hx4705 to connect using wep. I have no problems with public and my home which do not use wep. It just seems to hang up when I try to connect. We have tried with a couple of Ipaq's of other models and have the same problem. Any ideas??

Hi, I use 128 wep at home with no problem. A couple of points: 1) NEVER use the 'phrase' option. 2) Always type out the key in UPPER case, everywhere. On the iPaq, on your router, everywhere. It is NOT supposed to make a difference when you enter a hex key, but some hardware will see 'a' and 'A' as different. A sample key would be: 1234567890ABC1234567890ABC1234567890ABC 3) Alway s do a 'battery reset' after configuring the adapter. That is, pull the battery for 10 seconds and then put it back in. A soft reset does not reset the WiFi hardware. You will not lose any data (this is NOT a hard reset).

Grace Digital Mondo Wifi radio - plugged in, found my wifi connection, but when I enter my WEP Key, it just cirlces back to :Enter WEP Key. No errors received, just doesn't recognize my WEP K

Hi
You say that the radio keeps demanding the WEP key for your WiFi connection. WEP is just one of several security types to be used for WiFi. The fact that the radio is asking for a WEP key indicates to me that your WiFi is more than likely set to one of the other security standards such as WPA, WPA2-PSK etc etc etc. If this is the case your laptop and kindle etc will be using the same security standard as your WiFi router. To find out which security standard is being used in Windows 7, on your laptop, click on the active connection in the system tray to bring up the list of available connections and then click on "Open Network and Sharing Centre". When the Network Centre page comes up double click on the "Wireless Connection".
A status box will come up and about half way down is a utton "Wireless Properties". Click on this, and in the box that comes up click on the security tab and it will tell you the security type, the encryption type and the wireless key (click on "Show characters").
If the encryption type is not WEP then the radio will not connect to your WiFi, and the radio settings for Security and encryption need to be set to the same as on the laptop for it to connect.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Authentication problem on android ipad

You will get an 'authentication' problem trying to connect to this dlink 600 or any other wifi services/routers that are 'protected' and encrypted using WEP or WPA or WPA2 security (e.g. not public or 'OPEN' network): apart from the SSID, you will need to set your android tablet or ipad to use the WEP or WPA or WPA2 PASSWORD/PASS KEY to successfully connect (you get it from the Wifi/Router administrator).

How to connect and use internet(wifi) by connecting samsung gt s5263 to laptop?

Absolutly not!

Wifi intenet connects to a ROUTER not a laptop.

1.You would need a Wifi router
2. You would need the WEP key from the router this can be done by clicking here.

Or

You could take it to a hotspot, most public plances offer FREE WIFI

I hope this helps.

Connecting to Wifi at home. Error Code 51102 What

A WEP key is a Security code but for some wireless providors a WPA-TKIP or WPA"-TKIp is used instead. check your connection details to find out which one yours uses and the use the appropriate settings.
Important notes would be that if your connection is using WPA-TKIP or WPA2-TKIP then the DS or DS lite will not be able to connect because they can only use WEP keys. If the system you are using is the Nindento DSi then all you need to do is to use connections 4, 5 and 6 found in Advanced Conection Settings under the internet option in the DSi Settings menu ( remember this method is only for use with other wireless securities than WEP keys like WPA-TKIP and WPA2-TKIP.)

The access point's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS

WEP and WPA are types of security that are used to protect home wireless networks. WEP is the only security setting that works with the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite. WPA and WEP are both compatible with the Nintendo DSi. If you are not sure how to find your router's WEP or WPA Key or if you have problems entering it into your Nintendo DS, try the following tips:
so if your wifi is WPA. you wont be able to use wireless
but if your wifi is WEP you can.
WEP is not recommended because it is not secure. Easy to hack

I can't use the WIFI in my ASUS A716 through neither my work or home internet though I enter the correct passcode for both networks I always get a msg saying that I have entered the wrong passcode!!

Greetings Reem - There are two likely problems keeping your Pocket PC from connecting to either your home or work WiFi networks.

The first is that your A716 is probably still running Windows Mobile 2003 or has been upgraded to Windows Mobile 5 -- Neither of which is capable of supporting the WPA security standard that is most likely setup on your work network and probably also on your home WiFi router. The easiest thing to do at work is to ask the person in charge of the network what kind of security is used on the network. Same goes for home -- Ask the person who setup the WiFi connection.

If the answer is WPA or anything other than WEP ( or open - meaning no security -- very, very improbable) you won't be able to connect your PDA to that network at all. At home maybe you have a chance to have the security settings lowered to WEP (of course your A716 will also have to be setup to use WEP).

The other possible problem you might be having with connecting is that your device has 802.11b WiFi built in (11 Mbps) instead of the now standard 802.11g (54 Mbps). Some networks are setup only to allow 802.11g connections. Again, you would ask at work and home. Here, if that is the problem, you have a chance of the settings being changed to allow 802.11b connections.

Thanks for using Fix Ya and good luck

How do you hook up the internet

Prerequisites:
  • A Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL
  • A broadband internet connection in your home, such as cable or ADSL
  • A wireless router / access point
  • You can also use a free public WiFi connection such as those found in McDonalds restaurants
Step by step instructions:
  1. Switch on your Nintendo DSi / DSi XL
  2. Click on the spanner icon to access - System Settings
  3. Select - Internet, on the 3rd page of - System Settings.
  4. Select - Connection Settings and tap the - None bar in - Connection 1
  5. You have 2 options here, you can setup a connecion manually or you can scan for available connections. The easiest option is to scan for an access point, select - Search for an Access Point
  6. The DSi / DSi XL will list the names of any access points that are in range. A yellow unlocked icon next to the connection name denotes an unlocked WEP connection. A locked yellow icon denotes an encrypted WEP connection that requires a WEP key or password to be entered
  7. If you are accessing an encrypted WEP connection, enter your WEP key now
  8. If the WEP key is correct, you should now be connected. Test your connection to verify this
