Normally, snow is an indication that there is no signal from the tuner.
Bypassing the tuner by changing to a video input should show you a blank
screen. If you still see snow, it suggests that the set has not switched from
tuner mode to video. I would look for a missing voltage in the power supply. I
wuold look for a missing 12V supply.
You either have a bad coable connection or a bad tuner. The snow is because no signal is being detected. This can be a bad tuner or a bad power feed to the tuner. From a repair perspective it could be as simple as a bad connection inside the set that stops the power to tuner. If you feel comfortable working inside the set and can solder, resolder any connections that appear grainy or have rings. If that does not resolve the problem, you may need to request service.
Please note that because the menu shows up, the majority of hte set is working correctly. You should also try one of the video inputs. I suspect that they will work as well. If so, its another vote for a bad tuner.

Usually a snowy picture means that you have a bad ground connection. You should see that some channels are beter than others. Verify that the cable connection is good. Try a different cable if you can. If that has no effect, than we need to start looking at the tuner itself. If you can change channels but just have a poor picture, chances are that a resolder of the tuner section will resolve the problem.
Keep us posted.
I can suggest unplugging the TV and leaving it off over night. This will do a power reset and may correct the problem. If not the only way to determine the problem with the TV is testing the circuits. For a simple repair you can expect to pay in the ballpark of $100 for the repair.
Hope that helps.....
