Cannot see any SD card in expansion slot

I have an Ipaq 2210 and have been trying to install tomtom 5 via the expansion slot using a pre loaded SD card.I have tried half a dozen SD cards which I know have readable data and nothing is being read. When I go through the settings it is telling me the expansion slot is not in use,and when I go through Settings,System,Memory and storage card all I`m getting is a grey box and IPAQ file store.Do I have to turn on the expansion slot or something ?.Any help please as I`d like to use this while I`ve still got a few teeth and some hair left.I don`t know if there is a problem with the PDA or if I just need to set it up differantly?

I was happily surfing the net using my SD wireless card when everything froze. Now the slot is not recognized on the system and it will no longer read any SD card. I tried the soft reset with a card I knew to be working fine in place but it still did not show anything on the file explorer. I also did a hard reset holding down the two outer buttons and pressing the reset button but no luck there.

The first thing to try is a soft reset while the card is inserted.

Can I down load from my iPad onto my tomtom

No.
ipad does not have sdcard or micro-SD card slot to transfer to external device.

Verify what type of memory is used on your Tomtom Start 25.
Also verify the max capacity and speed supported.

Prefer a laptop with sdcard carrier with micro-SD to download and transfer file physically or download to pc and transfer via usb cable. See page 95 of the attached manual

How do I setup my HP iPaq 2210 to access the internet with a WLAN-11b card? What are the steps?

First of all, you should install the driver for your wlan-11b card to your PDA. (There should be a CD given with the wifi card, or you can download in online through the card's brand's website, ex. .cab file for a Spectec SDW821 Wi-Fi Card) At this step, you should be carefull with the version of windows mobile on your device and the driver's version for windows mobile. After that, you should plug your wifi card to your PDA's SD slot, and your PDA will recognize it. So you can go to your settings, and there you can search for a wireless network.

HP ipaq with navtec gps software and sd card fails

Ok, nice job Robert,

I'm posting your solution here to remove it from the unsolved problems list.

Solution by Robert:
This problem was finally resolved as a corrupted map file on the SD memory card in the hp ipaq 5550. Solution was to reformat the memory card using fat32 memory format. I used a SD memory card slot on my laptop and right click the drive letter and select format to format the memory card. After that, I reloaded map files to the memory card and all was OK. Note that previously I had loaded map files on the memory card successfully but that was not good enough. A reformat of the memory card was apparently needed.
I had also previously tried a hard full reset of the ipaq by pressing and holding the lower two buttons (calendar and itask) while holding in the reset button with the stylus for 5 seconds and resynced my contacts and reloaded the gps software, but this was to no avail. Try the re-format.

Tom tom one xl wont accept SD card with map on

If you have TomTom that have the slot for SD card, then it should accepted the SD card. The instruction for how to use the SD card is simple, but it is hidden in the TomTom Home, that's why it's difficult to find it. Below are the instruction how to use the SD card.

1. Format the SD card (FAT32) and do not stick the SD in the slot yet
2. Run Backup (connect TomTom device to computer)
3. Disconnect TomTom from computer and turn off
4. Slide the SD into the slot and connect TomTom back to computer (choose "yes")
5. In the TomTom Home menu, Choosen Backup & Restore >>> and choosen Restore

TomTom Home will add all applications to the SD card. So the internal memory still have the applications and the SD card also had the same applications. Everytime you slide the card in, TomTom will automatic detect and use it as its primary storage, if it not detect, you can go to the device menu and pick the device to connect to.
Whenver you take the SD card out, then TomTom will use its internal memory.

Hope this helpful

SD dectect error on 4 bit

Dear Andy ,
its a common problem in3900 series iPAQ.
If the Secure Digital (SD) Card slot on your 3900 series iPAQ has stopped working this is the repair service you need, this process involves de-soldering the complete faulty SD socket from the iPAQ main board and a brand new SD card socket being re-soldered onto the iPAQ main board.

So please contact any authorised iPAQ Service center ,to fix this problem.

Using TomTom nevigator

For use with TTN you'll need the following: -A GPS mouse (either wired or wireless if you have bluetooth on your ipaq) -TomTom software -Memory card (usually Secure Digital of Compact Flash) to store the differents maps on it. It's also recommended to have a card reader on your pc to transfer the maps on the expansion card. Good luck and let me know if it works out or not
