I think it is possible but I am not an expert, to be honest, When I buy a router, I usually read reviews and comments. For example, I have read the belkin ac1900 review on getchoicelab.com website before buying it. So, as far as I see, the author was completely right.

The answer is no. wireless router needs modem to get singnal from. if you connect it to a regular phone line . that will not help your router receive any singnal so it won't have ability connect your pc online.

If your router has a WAN port I know you can connect an external DSL or cable modem to that port and use it without the desktop computer being turned on but I'm not sure about a telephone modem, does it say anything about it in your book? Since the access point itself does the logging on, I'd kinda doubt it could use a modem but I don't know, never tried. My SMC accesspoint/router offers a screen that would take all the required information but I just don't know. One thing that really makes me think it won't work on the WAN port is that a modem uses rj11 wire and networking ethernet cables use a different larger plug.

No, but if you hook up a computer connecting to the internet through that phone line to the router, i think you can share that internet connection with the pocketpc. Reply With Quote

My KC550 lg does nt run internet .I received settings also but it give s communication error.why?

First what is a KC550 lg , laptop , deskop , mobile phone.
Im assuming phone have you synced with the wireless router ?
Connecting your LG phone to wireless Internet is easy to accomplish with phones that can receive Wi-Fi signals.
You may decide to use the Wi-Fi capabilities in the event that you do not receive the best signal from your wireless provider at your home or office.
If this is the case, then hooking up to a Wi-Fi network near you could provide you with a faster connection to the Internet and a more reliable signal to send e-mails, texts and pictures.
Press the "Applications" tab on the home screen of your phone.
Scroll down the list of applications until you reach the "Settings" option.
Press "Settings" to bring up the menu.

Locate and click the "Wireless & Network" or "Connections" option within the "Settings" menu.
Select the "Wi-Fi Setting" or "Wireless Manager" option, then select the network that you want to connect to and click "OK."
All of the available wireless networks within your range will appear.

Enter the wireless network password (usually located bottom of router) if you are connecting to a secure network.
Press the "Done" button followed by the "Connect" button.

Things That Affect Wireless Router Signals
1. Many wireless routers are using the same wireless channel. Many manufacturers choose channel 6 as the default. Change to another channel. 2. Analogue video senders used to send audio and video to other TVs in the home. 3. Microwave ovens emit interference in the 2.4GHz band. 4. Wireless speakers and console controllers can cause interference with the wireless router. 5. Bluetooth devices, newer Bluetooth devices can jump to different frequencies if there is a connection problem. 6. Power cables located near the wireless router can cause dropouts and speed reduction. 7. Fish tanks and mirrors will cause massive Wi-Fi shadow on the other side of the tank from the wireless router. 8. Depending upon the location of large mirrors will reflect wireless signal away your computer. 9. Building materials will block wireless signals such as plasterboards with metal foil, reinforced concrete walls and floors. Also objects near the wireless router such as metal filing cabinets and other electrical appliances. 10. I have a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO Router and a Toshiba Satellite Laptop. The laptop will not connect to the wireless signal from the router. It shows it as an option on the laptop, but will not connect....

It appears that your neighbour has an unprotected wireless router setup for you (and anyone else) to connect into his router and get onto the Internet. You should suggest to him to secure his wireless router.

To connect into your own wireless router, you need to configure the wireless card with your router's wireless configuration settings, eg.the SSID and encryption settings. Check your router manual on how to configure the router or go to the Belkin WEB site to download this info.
You can also connect to the Internet by using a LAN cable and plug it into the Belkin router.

Disconnects while working.

it may be as simple as the wireless connection signal strength, as doors, solid walls or any solid object that is in it's line will cause the signal to be very low, and at that point it will disconect from the internet as it is unable to send packets of information to your wireless card from the router. You can try your router in another telephone point that is nearer the pc to see if the connection drops, or use a different channel number which can be changed in the routers settings and the wireless cards properties as interference from other electrical appliances on the MHZ level can cause signal loss. Laptops tend to suffer less with the signal loss because they normally have a signal booster in the screen of the laptop within the wireless receiver ariel.
