Hi, I have the stranges problem with my Ipaq rx 3115. It sometimes changes the appointment time on my calendar. It moves the appointment up one hour. So it shows my 9:00 appointment at 10:00. This doesn't happen all of the time but just enough to be an issue. Have you ever heard of this and how would I fix it. Thanks for your help.

The ipaq automatically adjusts for daylight savings but the PC does not.
On your PC double click on clock, click on Time Zone tab and then on that screen you will see the box that needs to be checked.
also check that both PC and IPAQ are set to same time-zones.

solia, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to close the chat session on you. Is your unit still under warranty? If so, check with the manufacturer. They can help.
Sounds like your PC is not set to adjust for daylight savings....
the ipaq automatically adjusts for daylight savings but the PC does not.
On your PC double click on clock, click on Time Zone tab and then on that screen you will see the box that needs to be checked.
also check that both PC and IPAQ are set to same time-zones.
Open Active sync on your PC.
Double Click on Calendar.
Change the settings such that it syncs only 0 past and 0 future appointments.
SYNC (this will clear all calendar items on the IPAQ)
Don't forget to change these settings back.
Calendar appointments will wake up the unit. You can change the power settings so that the unit will turn off after a certain amount of time. On my iPAQ rx3715, it's Start>Settings>Power>Advanced tab.
If it's completely dead USB probably can't do it at all. There's a voltage threshhold, and USB only puts out about half the voltage needed to get over it. USB usually won't manage when thenbattery's below 30%.
Try connecting the iPaq directly to the AC adapter.
If an ipaq loses power , then all data in RAM is lost. It's important to keep it charged.
It's also important to do regular backups.....
so there are two backup options - one is thru Activesync which will backup to your PC and one is the IPAQ's own backup program which will backup to the IPAQ FILE STORE (area in ROM) or a SD card.
I do the Activesync backup every time I sync and then the IPAQ backup about once a week or immediately before a system change.
Activesync backup
------------------------
Here is a guide which best explains it
http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/activesync/backup.htm
this guide suggests doing a full backup, but it's fine to do an incremental backup each sync - this means that only changes will be added to your backup and makes the whole process much quicker.
IPAQ Backup
-----------------
So under Programs is a program called IPAQ Backup. The default location is IPAQ FILE STORE which is an area in ROM and is not lost thru a power failure nor hard reset.
You may also choos to backup to a SD card - a full backup will need roughly 20MB. So in this backup procedure, if you click on 'Browse' you can choose a SD card.
A restore can then be performed from the IPAQ FILE STORE or SD card (depending on which location you chose) and so if you are away from your PC, this will be no problem. A restore this way , rather than thru Activesync is also much quicker, so if you have a choice go this route.
To execute a hard boot on the iPAQ rx3115, the manual says to "while pressing the two outside buttons on front of iPAQ, press the recessed reset button on bottom."
Hope it Helps...

Try the following....
Open Active sync on your PC.
Double Click on Calendar.
Change the settings such that it syncs only 0 past and 0 future appointments.
SYNC (this will clear all calendar items on the IPAQ)
Now go back in to those Calendar settings, and set it back to the default which is 2 past weeks and All Future appointments.
SYNC (this will now reload all appointments into your Ipaq)
