Try unplugging the machine, waiting a couple minutes, then holding down the power button as you plug it back in. Hopefully you will hear a "beep". Then unplug it again, wait a couple minutes, and plug it back in. Also make sure you press all buttons on on panel, to make sure none of them are stuck.

My kolin inverter type aircon wall mounted stopped working, the led display indicated E1. What does this mean?

The Sharp e1 problem is a timer that is pretending to demand that you clean the filter. It stops the machine every 720 hours and forces you to do a procedure to get it to go away.

There are 2 possible procedures.

1) Unplug the machine. Hold down the power button while you plug the machine in and wait for a beep about 5 seconds long. Let go of the power button. Unplug the machine. Plug it back in.

2) Unplug the machine. Hold down the mode button while plugging the machine back in and waiting for a beep of about 3 seconds duration. Let go of the mode button. The machine will start. Turn the machine off by pressing the power button. Resume trying to use the machine normally.

If these don't work, the "demand to clean filter" timer is broken and you will need to buy parts to repair the machine.

Sharp updated the procedure for resetting the E1 code.

1. unplug unit
2. hold the Power button while plugging the unit back in
3. keep holding the Power button until the unit beeps
4. unplug unit again
5. plug it back in and it should be good

Here is the updated user manual

Sharp a/c-#AF-S85FX

The e1 code is operated by a timer which stops the machine every 720 hours of run time. There are 2 procedures to reset this.

1) unplug the machine. Hold down the power button while plugging it back in and waiting for a beep of about 5 seconds duration. Release the power button. Unplug the machine again. Resume trying to use it as an air conditioner.

2) unplug the machine. Hold down the Mode button while plugging it back in and waiting for a 3 second beep. Release the mode button. The machine will start. turn it off by pressing the power button. Resume trying to use the air conditioner.

If these do not work, the "clean filter timer" is broken and will require you to replace some parts.

(Aren't you glad there is a computer is almost everything?)

It turns off

The e1 code is a demand to clean the filter. It means the unit has been running for 720 hours. It does not mean anything is broken...unless it hasn't been running for 720 hours. That would mean the "clean the filter" timer is broken! There are 2 reset methods.

1) Unplug the machine. Hold down the power button while plugging it back in and wait until it beeps (for about 5 seconds). Let go of the power button. Unplug the machine again, then plug it in and try to use it as an air conditioner.

2) Unplug the machine. Hold down the Mode button while plugging it back in. Keep the mode button pressed until it beeps (for about 3 seconds). Let go of the mode button. The machine will start. Turn it off by pressing the power button. Resume trying to use it as an air conditioner.

If neither of these work, the "clean the filter" timer is broken and needs replacing.
