Question about Computers & Internet

Hi, I don't know if I pressed the wrong button or if a cd-rom that we were trying to get to open up, caused the problem but everything on the screen has gone very large, the magnification still says 100%. How can we fix this? Thank you for your time!

Hi, Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, I have been helping a neighbour! I am currently running a virus scan with our security software, I will try some of your suggestions when it is finished! It should not be a virus in my opinion ( not that I am an expert ). It may have been a stray click on the key board with my big fat fingers or a childrens cd rom that we have used in the past which did not want to run.? I am not an expert or even competent but that is my uneducated opinion. Thank you for your time! Darryl.

Hello again, The scan did not find any viruses. I tried the right click on the desktop, properties, settings and change the resolution. It appears to be back to normal now! Thank you very much for your help and advice, it is much appreciated! Many thanks. Darryl

This can be caused by more than one issue ..If you accidentally got in the safe mode..restart the computer ..and let it log-on the correct way ..(when the mode screen is on ..choose the last configuration that worked ..or normal start ..)
Another cause may be the accidental change of the resolution ..and this can be changed back ..from the video card management..(resolution ..and choose a larger one ..Actually ...if you do not know the one you used to have ..try a few until the screen is back to the way it was..and than accept the configuration ) ..
The last cause can be a failing of the video card driver..and in this case you have to insert the video driver cd ..and run it again ..It will automatically calibrate the resolution after you finish and restart ..)
If you do not have the disk ..look on the support site ..or ..let me know what video card you have ..and I will point you to the driver...If it is an on board video card ..the driver will be on the motherboard"s drivers CD..In any case..usually it is just a resolution matter..
You can also try just to click right on desktop ..choose properties..than look for settings ...and in there you will find a slide which is adjusting the resolution ..and increase the value and select it by clicking apply ..than confirm the changes by choosing to keep the selected one ..

when I refereed to scan for hardware changes it is not a virus scan ..that operation force the computer to scan the devices and install the ones that are not sent on plug-in ..and install them automatically ..This is what happen and the hdd was seen again proper way ..

Do you mean it won't pick the disc? If so, try F10 it should also give you a boot menu if you don't see press any key to boot from cd... The other option is boot into BIOS and change your boot order. CD-ROM/DVD should be the 1st option.

I dont know how to open the burner on my new emachine e732z. ive tried pressing the button and notrhing or maybe it isnt a button

On your front panel of your CD rom you will see a small hole insert a small needle that can press the lock of the cd rom eject and it will open. You can use a paper clip.

I can't install cd's on computer

It is my pleasure to guide you.

Go to the Control Panel > double click the System icon > Hardware tab > Device Manager >
Look for your CD Rom in the DVD/CD drives listing, press the + sign to open it.

You should see two drives, if you have two CD Rom drives. Double click on one at a time. This opens the Properties of the drive. The Device status should say it is working properly. If it does not say that, close properties and right click the drive and uninstall. Close out everything and reboot. Windows may ask to reboot, say yes.

After boot up Windows should re-intall the CD Rom drive drivers. After all is done, try the CD Rom again.

I hope you are not trying to play a DVD in a CD ROM/RW. If not so, then check to see that the sata or IDE are well fitted into their slots. If they are, then check if the CD or DVD Rom drive has some light on at the front. If it doesn't, check to see to it that the Drive's power cable is well fixed.

If these don't work, reboot the computer and go into the BIOS settings(you usually press DEL button or F2 depending on your machine while the computer is turning on). to check if the drive is in the drives list. if it is not, the there is something wrong with your drive. you have to fix another one.
NOTE: Don't try to fix tight the cables while the machine is running or on power. Make sure that the power cable is completely disconnected because this may cause a short circuit which may tamper with other devices or even the drive you are trying to fix.

DVD/CD will not open on my HP Pavllion s7000 what may cause this?

go to computer and try to right click on CD/DVD Rom and then select Eject there.. if this doesnt helps u then u would have to manually release the CD/DVD rom.. just below the tray there is a Small Hole .. use a Needle or any other device that may go in that hole.. try to press on eject button there.. and try to press using needle.. try doing so 3 - 4 times.. there is a latch that needs to be released to open the Tray..
this normally happens if the eject functionality of the tray is not functioning properly.. if ur computer is under warranty .. get the CD/DVD rom replaced.. let me know if this resolved ur issue regards, guru

Cd player on 2001 lincoln ls - cd error when i press load button

My father inlaw just purchased a 2001 lincoln, with a six disc changer, Question is he loaded the unit ,and now he wants to eject the cd's and the changer won't open? any suggestions thanks

Cd/dvd drive

You can see a hole located on the tray of the cd rom drive. Commonly seen beside the button to eject the cd out. Grab a small pin and push the hole and this should eject the tray. Close the tray again by pressing the button. Eject it using the button. If everything still failed, call up Dell to have the CD Rom Drive replaced.

Cd-rom/dvd-rom door won't open

Hi!This is not a big problem...All you have do is take a pin, needle or something and just insert it into the small hole near your cd-rom drive..try this repeatedly while pressing the eject button..If it doesn't work you will have to unscrew the two screws on the right of your keyboard..doing this will give you the access to the cd tray and you can remove the cd and put it back together..
