My printer is: (hp psc 2170 series) When I turn on my printer, the scanner light goes to the right side but instead of stopping and get on stand-by mode, it goes more and more until it gets on the edge and then it starts to make an irritating sound. After 5 minutes the noise stops but the whole printer scanner doesn't work. a lot of people online advised me to clean the mirror (specially when they knew that a bottle of oil was poured on the printer by mistaken) but i don't know what is the mirror or how can i reach it

Follow the instructions here http://www.fixya.com/support/t9851508-printer_hp_psc to get access to the glass and mirror. Use a lint free cloth. After reassembly, it still may not work. Just clean it again. It has to be very very clean.

Hello

The printer should be compatible with both vista and XP
your printer is a serie 1310 but if you look closer you should find a more exakt nr like

» HP PSC 1315 All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1315v All-in-One Printer
» HP PSC 1315xi All-in-One Printer

Having trouble when i turn on my printer

Hi,

I understand that you are receiving Scanner failure error.

Please follow the below given instructions to get the issue resolved.

Please remove the All-in-One Printer from the Power Surge Protector and plug it directly into a wall Power outlet, as the surge protector may not provide enough power to printer.

Let us power cycle your All-in-one to remove any static electricity in your All-in-one.

Please perform the step given below to power cycle the unit after removing the print cartridges from the printer:

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only
4. Repeat steps 2-3 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the USB cable from the all-in-one to your computer.

Please try installing the below patch and check for the result:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-14037-3&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=90809&os=228&lang=en

Just copy and paste the entire link into the Internet browser's address bar and press enter

If the issue persists, try resetting the All-in-one to factory defaults by following the below given instructions:

Note:
A semi-full reset will do the following:
The user settings to the factory defaults, Language and country settings on some models, Fax logs, Fax headers, Fax speed dial information.

Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold Cancel and the Right Arrow while plugging in the power cord.

Continue holding until it displays S Full Reset message in the front panel of the All-in-One.
This should resolve the issue.

Regards,
Lawrence

HP PSC 1410 will not print, printer icon is no longer on the bottom right hand corner of screen either. When i turn off the printer and turn it back on it prints the test page only.

Dear kappa, It is the problem related "Alignment of cartridge" your printer is working properly, I am suggesting a method, with the help of this method you will never get test page until you lift out your cartridge from your printer. When next time printer print a test page, take it and put it into the scanner, remember the printing area should be the side of mirror and the printer prints on the above side of the paper should be left side of the scanner. And press scan button, you will see the green light will be blink and a voice of scanner you will hear. After 30 seconds light will stop blinking, Next time when you will turn on your printer, it will not print test page.
