Panorama in Generic SM Card

I heard that there is a way to program a generic Smart Media card so the Olympus Digital camera can use it to take panoramic shots. Anyone out there know if this is possible? If so, how can it be programmed?

The Camedia Software includes a panoramic stitcher. When you use the Oly Panoramic feature, and teh Camedia software, the stitching is almost painless.

I don't believe you "need" the Oly code--it merely makes things easier by showing you a shadow edge view of the scene you just photographed to make alignment easier. You can do the same thing visually by sighting on a particular object on the right side (if you're moving from left to right) of the picture you're taking and including that site at the same up/down location in the next frame and so on. I previously had a Kodak digital and there were no codes or "assists" and I got some great panos.

How to activate panorama?

Panorama shooting lets you create a panoramic picture, using the OLYMPUS
Master software from the provided CD-ROM. An Olympus xD-Picture Card is required for Panorama shooting. If the card is a Fuji xD card then the panorama feature would be disabled to you.

I have the Olympus C-4000 Zoom and am having difficulty getting into the panorama mode which I really need for business. What am I not doing right.? Johnston. Spain.

First of all you need to be sure you are using a memory card that is an Olympus card. If it is a non-Olympus card then the panorama option will be disabled to you.

Then go to Menu - Mode Menu - Camera tab - Panorama option and select right arrow. This should enable the panorama mode for the camera.

Xd card type

A Fuji card can be used in the camera; the only function that will be disabled is if you wish to take panorama shots with the camera. Panorama in the Olympus cameras is proprietary therefore in order to shoot panorama shots Olympus requires that you specifically use their xD picture card. Otherwise the Fuji card will work just fine.

I have new olympus 850SW with the required Olympus xD picture card, 1 GB & can't access the in camera panorama...I know I did it once but it is grayed out now - only pano on PC available...I've read...

To access the panorama mode in the camera you need to be in P mode.

To set the P mode you need to press the Ok button right arrow to P for Program Auto and press Ok. Then as long as you are using an Olympus xD card you should be able to go to menu and highlight the Panorama option.

Olympus c-300 zoom digital camera

The max i've seen verifiably used was 128MB. I have heard reports of 256MB used but could not verify. I currently use 128MB without issue.

Panoramic Pictures

If I remember my last Olympus camera it would only work in Panorama mode with an official Olympus memory card. No third party cards would enable that feature. My instructions read "An Olympus xD-Picture Card is required for panorama shooting." If you are using an official Olympus xD-Picture card, there may be a problem with your camera.

Smartmedia Panorama mode

I don't know what you are doing, but my Nikon 4500 has a panoramic feature. It has nothing to do with the memory card. When you put it in panorama mode, on the second and subsequent shots, it shows about 1/3 of the previous shot in the viewfinder. You line that up with your present shot, and take the picture. The Nikon software, on a computer, can probably stitch the photos back together. You can do the same thing in an image editing program.
