HX4700 backup I recently bought an HX4700 and it's great. I want a regular backup schedule(iPAQ and SD card) to my desktop PC but I can't find a way of doing it. Any ideas?

Doosoft's mobsync is brilliant. I have used it for a year now to back up my SD card. It starts automatically when doccked. Also allows me to specify folders to back up on different schedules. http://doosoft.seesaa.net/

My new 4gb sd card does not register on storage display, and does not seem available to use

The official oprating systems of the HX4700, WM2003 and WM5, do not support SDHC card format. Since most 4Gb "SD" cards are in SDHC format (check the label on your card), the file format of your card is likely to be incompatible with the PDA. Get a 2Gb SD card, or go for a Compactflash card for 4Gb to 32Gb of storage space.

Just bought 4GB SD card that hx4700 does not recognise - help pse

Your slot in the iPAQ is a SD slot, not a SDHC slot - therefore it will not read the card. Your PC card is probably a dual reader. The SD cards look the same but are different. Have a read of this...

SD Card issue

Its design not a problem, it will do the samething with a CF card. They probably figured that you would only insert a card into the device if you intended to use it.

Data gone

I bought the large capacity battery and back for mine for extended business trips (HP # 259114-001, rated at 3600mAh). You can take your regular battery as a backup and / or charger! Works well. Will fit in the HP case (nylon).

IPAQ Backup on SD

Sounds like a potential problem with the SD card -- I'd try reformating the SD card and do another backup... If you still have the error, try another card...

Data erased from iPAQ hx4700

If an ipaq loses power , then all data in RAM is lost. It's important to keep it charged. It's also important to do regular backups..... so there are two backup options - one is thru Activesync which will backup to your PC and one is the IPAQ's own backup program which will backup to the IPAQ FILE STORE (area in ROM) or a SD card. I do the Activesync backup every time I sync and then the IPAQ backup about once a week or immediately before a system change. Activesync backup ------------------------ Here is a guide which best explains it http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/activesync/backup.htm this guide suggests doing a full backup, but it's fine to do an incremental backup each sync - this means that only changes will be added to your backup and makes the whole process much quicker. IPAQ Backup ----------------- So under Programs is a program called IPAQ Backup. The default location is IPAQ FILE STORE which is an area in ROM and is not lost thru a power failure nor hard reset. You may also choos to backup to a SD card - a full backup will need roughly 20MB. So in this backup procedure, if you click on 'Browse' you can choose a SD card. A restore can then be performed from the IPAQ FILE STORE or SD card (depending on which location you chose) and so if you are away from your PC, this will be no problem. A restore this way , rather than thru Activesync is also much quicker, so if you have a choice go this route.

Hx4700 moving files

To move from main memory to CF card, you would do a Copy and Paste and then delete the file from origianl location with the 'Cut'.
