Most air conditioning unit have a built in thermometer so that it will tell you the room temp,if you set the temp and then it goes to a high number let the system rum for a while and see if the temp starts to go down in the room it is probably working fine.

Digital temperature changes to 86 every time your set it to a lower temperature how do I fix this

If this set temp changes on its own then the circuit board has failed. Call a service tech or replace the unit. But this 86° might be the indoor temp, not the set temp? If I set my temp to 75°, then my temp goes to 86°, then the set temp (target temp) is 75° & actual room temp is 86°. The unit may not be working properly. Not sure if this helps.

AEW10AJS1 ac digital panel keeps climbing to its max of 86 degrees. i cannot operate any of the buttons except the temp down. i have to hold it down because the unit keeps climbing back up to 86. its a...

Greetings!
I have the same model. Symptoms: Unit works great, Expect..when operating the menu buttons, they do don work properly. Example, pressing the up temp works great, but when pressing the lower temp button, the temp will go to 86 degrees F.
The problem is the control board. I took it out, clean it well with soapy water, rinsed with clean water, blew dry, took a tooth brush with alcohol and rebrushed again, rinsed with water, blew dry with compressed air.
Upon close inspection with a magnifying class, you can see the top of the board connections, did not solder well when manufactured. This is a hint... My problem was with R32 a 0804 resistor not being soldered properly during manufacture.
I replaced the resistor an all is well.

All the buttons have ground at the bottom of the switches, while the top is 5v volts dc with a standard meter, but I do believe all the keys are multiplexed, as seen when pressing one of the buttons, the display may show a different function changing.
Thus the most likely problem, will be with one of the 10K ohm resistors associated with one or more of the buttons. The resister is black in color with 103 written on the top, and is a 0804 size.
Hope this helps.
PS I have found no replacement of the control board, so I just fixed mine. If you have electronics friend, he/she might like the challenge.

First you have to understand in thermostat there are Fahrenheit & Centigrade degree. If Centigrade between 16 to 30 and if it is Fahrenheit 60 to 86.
If you press the symbol ther> and > (or) ther- and ther+ at a time degree will change.
Now you set your temp +10 degree from your room temp and also keep "heat" mode.

Furnace shuts down 60 seconds after startup cycle then repeats

Could be. But you should try changing the lower limit of the bi-metal thermostat switch located in the plenum for the induced (house) air. It could be that the plenum gets cooled off by the fan (too much air). The propane has lower BTU values than the gas the furnace was originally designed for. Because of this, the induced air plenum will warm,, the fan will turn on, but then the plenum goes below the low temp because the gas cannot maintain temp because of lower BTU values (or for some other reason), and the furnace "thinks" that it has done its job heating the house for a cycle. After shutting off, it is then rudely notified by a complaining wall thermostat that some more work must be done pronto. That is why it cycles. Good luck.
