Message: Hi, I just put a new cartidge in and it on prints on the left side of the page - the right is blank. Tried the following: 1) reinset cartidge - 4 times. 2) clean heads 3) power down 4) bought a second new cartidge None of this worked. I put the old one in and it did the same. Before I changed it - it worked. Any ideas?
I have had the same problem, and it does appear that it is related to the section connected with the blue clips. You can trick the machine into thinking that the cover is closed (There is a lever on the left front that you can see when the cover is open.) Then, if you try to copy a page and while scanning, hold down on the metal bar on the bar connected by the two blue clips (hold it all the way down), I found that the printer worked fine. There are a couple of ways to jury-rig things so that this can work, but I don't think it's worth it, as the print quality of this machine isn't too great anyway. Find a cheap unit at OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, Fry's Electronics, or another discounter instead. Thanks for the other posters as it would have taken me a lot longer to figure out that this wasn't worth fixing.

Had the same trouble as the below. Changed out the cartridge with a new one and only printed out on one side of paper.
If you apply heavy duty packaging tape down on the silver bar that comes down over the film it will solve the problem. But if that tape gets loose it will start doing it again. So you have to change out the tape when you change out the cartridge and make sure enough pressure is applied.
In other words you have to rig it to work correctly.

I have this same problem on two of the same fax machines. It was printing fine and when I put in a new cartridge, it started printing on the left side only. I bought a used one off Ebay and it only prints on the right side. Did you find the answer or part number to correct it? Thanks - MJ ([email protected])

I am the owner - it was suggested to me that the 'blue toner clips' - two on each side that hold the ribbon cartridge down are broken. I checked them, this is not the case. I called Brother they suggested i take it to the nearest service center - 212 miles from away. I give up.

Listen, my friend had the same problem with his MFC 1950MC: "... have a Brother MFC 1950MC fax machine. I bought it used because I can't afford to buy a new one. I was told it was ok but it's not. It prints on only the right half of the paper. I was told by a 3 different authorized service centers that it's a common problem and requires a specific part that almost always fixes the problem. But, they won't tell me the part number or sell it to me. I think I found someone who will sell me the part if I can give them a part number. Anybody have any knowledge of this problem? If so, please help me out with a part number or solution. ..." Anyway, he found it on: http://www.worldoffax.com but he cant remmeber the part number. sorry. Hope it helps. K.
