Check the compression and Check for vacuum leaks at the intake manifold for the cylinder
Also the fuel injector can very likely be Dead, and alos make sure that the computer is actually controlling the injector for the dead cylinder, Dont just change parts have someone check the injector by an ohms (resistance) test or a current ramp test for the latter you will need an occilloscope

Got a problem with a misfire on 4 put all new plugs & a new oil changed engine light blinking in and our car running rough when I stopped car smelled burning and smoke near back tires

I really couldn't tell you without checking it out. But I would check the coil pack or dist.Cap or ignition control module and change the sparkplug wires.

It's probably the Sparkplug wires or one of the coils, depending what your car has.

2000 Maxima runs rough and is misfiring on cylinder 6

hi , if you are sure the no. 6 cylinder is misfire then change the ignition coil if you are sure but if you are going to buy a new coil better buy all 6 coils and it will last longer if not after no.6 then no.5 or 4,3, until you change all of it .....for rough runs pls flush / change ATF every 20,000 km and change engine oil every 5,000 km , change the exhaust (o2) sensor it make a lot of different , resetting your throttle sensor and speed sensor , all the above must change it with nissan oem part and it not that expensive too.

1997 pontiac grand am with no. 4 cyclinder misfire

What have you checked so far? What engine? Check spark plug for ware, cracks and carbon tracking. Check the ignition wires for damage and voltage leaks, this could be done by spraying the wires with soapy water. If the car runs rough or you see arching replace the wires. Check for spark and check the ignition coil and replace as needed.if you still having problems you may have to check the injector or perhaps do a compression test.

Reduced power light/check engine runs very rough 2005 ion

usually when it gets colder outside the car will misfire and run rough because the ignition module/coil pack goes bad and makes it misfire, youre gonna have to replace the coil and module,,its the black long piece that sits on top of the spark plugs,1 wire connector and 4 10mm bolts remove them and pull up hard to pop the plug boots off the spark plugs, then install the new parts and you should be ok

Random multiple misfirings

Here is a list of possible causes. You should not drive the vehicle if the check engine light is flashing all the time, you can cause even more damage. It could pay to have a professional find the real cause.

Spark plugs that are incorrect for the application, cracked, improperly gaped or worn can cause the engine to misfire or run rough at all times.
An IC module that failed to correctly control the ignition coil(s) will cause the engine to misfire or run rough at all times.
Poor connections, broken wiring or wiring that has shorts to ground can cause the engine to misfire or run rough at all times. NOTE: Check connectors that might be pulled apart as the engine flexes or wires that short to ground as they pass near brackets or shorts to ground on the exhaust manifold.
Fuel injector(s) that are shorted, plugged or partially restricted can cause the engine to misfire or run rough at all times.
An ignition coil(s) that has low output, corrosion on the coil tower(s), is carbon tracked or arcs to ground will cause the engine to misfire or run rough at all times.
A PCM that failed to properly control the injector or ignition timing will cause the engine to misfire or run rough at all times.
