I'm trying to install original as well as updated drivers for my Sony Cybershot DSCP73 camera on Windows ME (updated!) but it recognizes the camera as unknown device. I've tried to enable device, checked for conflicts but nothing. This happened after I reinstalled Windows ME (clean install).
Before (on old WinME) the drivers were installed on first time and the camera was recognized.
What should be the problem?
My configuration: Compaq Presario 7500 64MB RAM 8GB HD

Re: Sony Cybershot DSCP73 drivers in WinME don't work
Try http://www.usbman.com but the usual is there plus motherboard drivers, enabling the USB in the bios and more.
I'd comment further, but you didn't list the CPU (AMD/Intel, etc) and I offer this note without bother of the research of what the PC is. That's for you to make a good and complete post and not me to dig out what the machine is.

The drivers needed to connect your Sony camera to a computer and transfer files are already included in the operating system, so you don't have to install anything. If there is a software on that disk to enable you to edit, sort pictures, etc, you could try to Troubleshoot compatibility, by right-clicking on setup.exe located on your cd.
driver download for Sony digital cameras will work on most Windows
systems and Cybershot digital cameras. This is a USB driver and in case
you are not familiar with the general approach to installing drivers,
it is important that you follow these steps:
Download the Sony driver
Make sure that the USB cable and digital camera are NOT connected to your PC
Install the digital camera driver
Do not try to plug the camera into your PC until you have finished installing the driver and restarted your computer.
process may take an extra few minutes, but it helps prevent problems
and ensure the Sony digital camera driver is properly installed. After
restarting, the driver will let you transfer files via USB. Simply plug
in your Sony camera and you should be ready to go.
